People have to "use crutches" due to construction of a nearly 100 billion VND project in Hanoi

During the construction of the foundation for the project "Construction of technical facilities of the Geological-Rare Minerals Federation", 19 households in residential group No. 2, Phuong Canh Street (Xuan Phuong Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) had their houses tilted, cracked, collapsed, and sunk.

Overview of the project "Construction of technical facilities of the Geological-Rare Minerals Federation" with a total investment of nearly 100 billion VND, the basement foundation is being constructed at residential group No. 2, Phuong Canh Street (Xuan Phuong Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi).

According to residents, the incident began when the project's construction unit dug the foundation to build a basement, causing landslides that created a geological slide frame, causing adjacent houses in the area to crack, tilt, and sink toward the construction site.

On the morning of September 24, houses located near the construction site had to "lean on crutches" due to tilting, cracking, sinking, and subsidence.

Responding to the press, Mr. Tran Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of Xuan Phuong Ward People's Committee confirmed that 19 households were affected by the project construction. Among them, there was a house tilted more than 10 degrees. According to Mr. Hoan, after the inspection, the Ward People's Committee organized an inspection and invited the investor, the construction unit and the affected households to come to work.

The investor and the construction unit have also proposed a plan to ensure the safety of the people. The investor also requested the construction unit to stop the construction of the basement of Building A to complete the documents. The construction unit has deposited more than 4 billion VND to ensure the implementation of safety measures for the affected people.

Sharing with PV Dan Viet, Mr. Tran Quang Thang (No. 2 Phuong Canh Street) said that since the basement foundation construction unit, his house has been tilted and cracked horizontally towards the construction site. "Although my house is newly built and has concrete piles for the foundation, it is still inevitable that it will be affected," Mr. Thang said.

According to Mr. Thang, the construction unit has agreed on compensation with the affected houses.

It is known that the project "Construction of technical facilities of the Geological Federation - Rare Metals" has a total cost of 99.8 billion VND, invested by the Geological Federation - Rare Metals. The project's construction unit is the joint venture of Nam Do Construction Joint Stock Company - Truong Giang Technology Joint Stock Company. The consulting and supervising contractor is the joint venture of Vietnam Project Management and Consulting Office.

The scale of construction investment includes: Construction of new office buildings for the Federation's agencies and affiliated units, analysis, testing and data processing buildings on radioactive environment (areas A, B); Renovation of a 2-storey house (area C); construction of technical infrastructure for the entire land area to establish the project's master plan.
