Talking about the opportunity to be honored as a student of the talented musician Nguyen Vu - his great teacher, painter Bui Duc Lam said: "Forty years have passed, I still remember that it was a simple level 4 house, on the wall hung many musical instruments such as flutes, guitars... Receiving me was a man in his forties, elegant in appearance, friendly in face. I still remember "teacher Khanh" always wore an old purple khaki shirt, the collar was worn but clean and neat"...

Painter Bui Duc Lam recalls: "The first time we met, he asked my age and said, "We are both friends of Xuan Tien, we know each other, so let's just call each other brothers, no need to call each other teacher and student politely", then he gave me the guitar and told me to play a song that I liked the most. After listening, "teacher" did not have any comments, just kindly asked where I was, what I was doing... After thinking for a moment, he said he would tutor me 3 times a week, on the condition that I practice absolutely hard... When asked about the tuition fee, he said, "It doesn't matter, you can give me any amount!"... So I officially became a student of Teacher Nguyen Tuan Khanh, who, a few months later, when I was about to finish studying with him, I found out that he was the famous musician Nguyen Vu, author of the Sad Hymn that many non-religious and religious people know.

"Although I only studied with him for a few months, his virtue, humility, and especially his subtle empathy... impressed me and have made me grateful until now," painter Bui Duc Lam was moved.
