A source confirmed to Dan Tri reporter that musician Quoc Dung - husband of famous singer Bao Yen - passed away on September 24 at his home.
Musician Bao Chau - the youngest son of musician Quoc Dung - changed his Facebook profile picture to black with the memorial line: "I will do what I promised."
Due to sad news for her family, famous singer Bao Yen announced her apologies to the audience for not being able to perform at the fundraising concert to support victims of the mini apartment fire, held at Ben Thanh tea room (HCMC) on the evening of September 24.

The passing of musician Quoc Dung left much grief for friends and colleagues.
Musician and poet Nguyen Huu Hong Minh said that when he received the news, he was sad and emotional because he missed his memories with Quoc Dung.
He shared about the author of Tet Song for You : "Farewell to you, a great musical talent with hundreds of works left behind. Especially, when it comes to Southern music, vibrant, innovative and diverse youth music, we cannot fail to mention you, musician Quoc Dung."
Musician Quang Thanh shared about his senior: "With many songs and unique harmonies, he is always loved by young people of every era and many generations. He will forever remain in the hearts of music lovers."
Singer Phuong Thanh wrote: "Goodbye, talented artist and musician. My condolences to Bao Yen and her family."
Musician Duong Khac Linh also sent condolences to the family of famous singer Bao Yen and musician Bao Chau.

Musician Quoc Dung was born in 1951 in Thailand and moved to Vietnam with his family at the age of 3. At the age of 10, he studied music in depth. Musician Quoc Dung performed the mandolin in a large orchestra from the age of 15.

In the early 1970s, when the youth music movement was popular, Quoc Dung, along with Nguyen Trung Cang and Le Huu Ha, were the first musicians to start the trend of Vietnamizing youth music. After 1975, the musician spent time working as an editor and arranger for Ho Chi Minh City Television.
The musician first married in 1974, but after 6 years the marriage broke up. He and famous singer Bao Yen became husband and wife in 1987. His love for Bao Yen inspired Quoc Dung to create many famous songs. The couple has 2 sons, Khai Ca and Bao Chau.
In 2013, musician Quoc Dung had a serious traffic accident. Since then, his health has gradually declined, and his memory has been affected by the accident.
In his twilight years, the musician still occasionally appears with his wife in some performances. His memories are sometimes remembered, sometimes forgotten, but he always considers himself a lucky person because he has lived and devoted himself completely to music.
