Lingard, a former Manchester United player currently playing for Seoul FC, has become embroiled in a dispute with a South Korean agent. Agent Jung Hyun-jung accuses Lingard of owing him $250,000. This agent is the same person who arranged Lingard's transfer to FC Seoul in August 2024.
The agent was reportedly set to receive a commission of $250,000. However, Lingard refused to pay the fee, citing Jung Hyun-jung's failure to keep his promise during the transfer process.
The deal was almost cancelled at the time. However, Lingard eventually resumed negotiations and succeeded. Lingard argued that Jung Hyun-jung's side had no part in the deal and therefore refused to pay the commission.

The dispute was then taken to court. According to the ruling, the court affirmed that Lingard had to respect the agreement between the two parties. However, Lingard refused to comply. He refused to pay and cut off all contact with Hyun-jung.
As a result, the court recently ordered the freezing of his monthly salary account. Each month, the player pockets $80,000 from FC Seoul, making him the highest-paid player in the South Korean league.
According to South Korean media, Lingard was very angry about what happened and decided not to go to training. FC Seoul then intervened and assured him that his June salary would be paid in an alternative form.
This situation is expected to further exacerbate the instability already plaguing the capital club. Previously, FC Seoul sold captain Ki Sung-yueng, a move that angered fans.
