Lumie Concepts, a fashion brand owned by Miss Luong Thuy Linh, is facing a wave of criticism from the online community just days after its launch. Despite receiving attention thanks to the fame of the beauty born in 2000, Lumie Concepts is being questioned about the quality of its products and its ability to compete sustainably.

The Lumie Concepts launch event in Ho Chi Minh City on August 2 attracted many famous faces in the entertainment industry. However, the focus quickly turned to negative reviews from social media users, who said that Lumie Concepts' designs were not worth the price, lacking in sophistication and elegance.

On the Threads platform, hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of interactions poured in on posts criticizing the brand. Comments focused on the product’s weaknesses: poor fit, untidy tailoring, substandard materials, easy wrinkling, and lack of luxury compared to the high price point.

Many designs have been criticized for using twill, a low-cost fabric that lacks strength or durability.
Users also commented that the product has a simple design, with details such as slits, waistlines or bow accents that are considered outdated and lacking in novelty. Some designs are even compared to popular products on Taobao, Shopee or Shein that cost only 100,000-400,000 VND.

A Threads account commented: "Miss Luong Thuy Linh's clothing brand is oriented towards a gentle, simple feminine style with product prices ranging from 1.3-2.5 million/item. However, with the same style, other local brands are selling for an average of 500,000-700,000/item. Not to mention, I find this type of clothing easy to find on domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms with even more diverse and affordable prices."

Many consumers believe that, for the price of Lumie Concepts, they have better options from domestic and foreign competitors.

Besides the products, Luong Thuy Linh’s personal fashion sense and experience in the fashion industry have also become controversial topics. Many people believe that the beauty does not have enough professional knowledge to use her reputation to create a brand. Targeting the mid-range price segment without having an advantage in design or materials makes many people think that this is a hasty move.

However, a surprising development is that after less than 3 days of launch, all 11 designs of Lumie Concepts on an e-commerce platform were announced as "sold out". This information caused a lot of controversy, raising suspicions that this was a "controversial to attract attention" marketing strategy from the founder.

In the context of many Vietnamese local brands having to leave the market because they are not competitive enough and cannot change with the times, Miss Luong Thuy Linh's move in this industry can be considered brave, but also contains many potential risks.
