Chinese dishwasher causes a stir online for driving luxury car to work

According to Yahoo News, a middle-aged woman from Chengdu, Sichuan, China caused a "storm" on social media in the country when she was seen going to work in a luxury car.

In a video posted on Weibo on April 1, she steps out of a black Bentley wearing a pink striped shirt, rubber boots and an apron. “This woman doesn’t lack money, she just lacks work,” the description of the video reads.

According to China Times , this person is actually rich but chose to work as a dishwasher in a restaurant to kill time.

"Staying at home doing nothing is really boring and I feel uncomfortable if I don't do the dishes every day," she admitted.

The person who drives her to work and picks her up in the Bentley is her daughter. She said she can't stop her mother from doing what she wants, so she supports her by being her mother's driver.

Many Chinese social media users praised the woman’s hard work ethic, saying she was inspirational. Some users shared similar stories they knew of wealthy people who went to work every day instead of just sitting at home.

However, some people also expressed jealousy when saying: "When people do not lack money, they feel happy no matter what they do."
