Agoda's data shows that, based on searches by Vietnamese travelers in October and November 2025 for check-in dates between February 14th and 22nd, 2026, interest in traveling during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday has increased compared to the same period last year. Notably, domestic tourism played a leading role in this growth, with an increase of nearly 22%, while demand for outbound travel increased only slightly by about 7%.
This trend also reflects the results from Agoda's 2026 travel trends report. According to the report, up to 50% of Vietnamese respondents indicated they plan to prioritize domestic trips this year.
With the Lunar New Year holiday lasting nine consecutive days and the habit of using annual leave to extend vacation time, many families choose domestic travel as a way to reconnect, relax, and fully enjoy their holiday without having to worry about the complicated procedures of traveling abroad.
