According to the announcements of most universities in Ho Chi Minh City, the April 30 and May 1 holidays will last for 5 consecutive days, starting from Wednesday, April 30, to Sunday, May 4.

Swap work and study days to get 5 consecutive days off

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has notified all staff, employees, students and pupils of the school about the holiday schedule for April 30 and May 1. Staff and pupils will have their working days changed from May 2 to April 26.

Thus, on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, civil servants, employees and students of the school will have 5 consecutive days off from April 30 to May 4, but must work and make up for lost time on April 26.

Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade also required its employees and workers to work on April 26 to get 5 consecutive days off, from April 30 to May 4. Students will study according to the timetable.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also announced that its employees, workers and students will have 5 consecutive days off, from April 30 to May 4.

To get the above holiday, the school's administrative staff and workers must make up for the April 20 workday by swapping the working day for May 2.

Lecturers and students have teaching schedules and internship/practice/experimental schedules during the holidays: May 2 will be taught - make up for April 20; May 3 will be taught - make up for April 27. For theoretical subjects and other holidays, lecturers will proactively organize online make up classes or arrange other times to ensure compliance with the school's teaching and learning plan.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) gives students 5 consecutive days off from Wednesday (April 30) to Sunday (May 4).

The University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also announced that the entire school will be closed from April 30 to May 4. However, the school also noted: "Teachers can arrange to make up for classes on May 2 and 3, and can teach online."

The University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) gives students a holiday from April 30 to May 4. Lecturers will arrange to make up for the holidays for students according to the teaching plan for the 2024-2025 school year.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance also gave students 5 days off from April 30 to May 4. From May 5, all lecturers, staff and students of the school returned to work and study as usual.

Van Hien University also announced that students will have 5 days off from April 30 to May 4. From May 5, students will return to study and take final exams according to the schedule.

There are schools that have 2-3 days off on April 30 and May 1, but still have to work to make up for it.

Unlike the 30-4 and 1-5 holidays that last for 5 consecutive days as mentioned above, some universities currently stipulate that this holiday will only last 2-3 days.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics stipulates that the April 30 and May 1 holidays will be 3 days, from April 30 to May 2. Employees and workers still have to work on April 26 to make up for the day off on May 2.

Notably, the school noted that during the holiday, lecturers, staff, employees, and students with work schedules, teaching, studying, exams, and other activities and work on May 3 and 4 will still take place normally as planned.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) announced that classes scheduled on Wednesday (April 30), Thursday (May 1) and Friday (May 2) will be closed for the holiday. Classes scheduled on Saturday (May 3) and Sunday (May 4) will continue as usual.

In case the lecturer needs to make up the teaching time to ensure the content of the subject, the lecturer will register the make-up teaching schedule and notify the students.

Meanwhile, Hung Vuong University in Ho Chi Minh City announced that the holiday will only last 2 days, from April 30 to May 1. From May 2, all lecturers, staff and students will return to work and study as planned.

Have an early summer break before the holidays

Particularly, the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has a long break before the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

From the 2024-2025 school year, the school will officially operate 3 main semesters per year (each semester is 12 weeks, with a break of about 2 weeks between semesters).

Master Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs of the school, said: "Currently, the school's students have just finished the first semester exams and are on break between two semesters from April 7 to April 20.

April 21st will be the start of the second semester, in this second semester students will study online for 2 weeks from April 21st to May 4th, on May 5th they will go to school directly. With the second semester schedule as above, students will have an "early summer break", can go home to celebrate the holidays with their families.

Lecturers and students of the school have 2 days off on April 30 and May 1. In case of additional days off, lecturers will have to make up for it in the last week of the semester.
