Don't listen to tiktoker
At the 2025 Admissions Fair at the National Economics University, more than 30% of the people who came to find information were parents. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (Bac Ninh) shared that in recent days, in addition to searching on groups, she did not hesitate to travel long distances to get official information for her children.

According to Ms. Hang, much of the information she was interested in regarding some majors she wanted to apply for was not available on the school’s website. Ms. Hang attended the fair and met directly with teachers in the Auditing major to get her questions answered.
Ha Ngan, a 12th grader at Xuan Dinh High School ( Hanoi ), said that this year she wants to be admitted to the Business Administration major and another major at the National Economics University. She came to the fair to find out that there is a lot of inaccurate information on social media about the major. For example, tiktokers say that after graduating from a Business Administration major, one can only become a leader, but when teachers in the department explained, Ngan realized that this is not the case. This is a flexible major, and she can participate in many job positions.
With the “assets” of 7.0 IELTS, 90 HSA score (the assessment of Hanoi National University’s ability), Ha Ngan tried her best to get high scores in Math and Literature in the high school graduation exam to increase her chances of being admitted, because the major Ngan wanted to study at the National Economics University last year had a fairly high score. Ngan also set her wishes at the University of Economics (Hanoi National University) and the University of Commerce.
After participating in a one-day experience as a student at Hanoi Medical University, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, a student in the Biology class at a specialized high school in Hanoi, decided to change. Initially, Hung planned to register to study Medicine, but realizing that the path to practice would be very long, Hung decided to register to study Dental Prosthetics, an open major at Hanoi Medical University. According to Hung, there is no shortage of job opportunities in this field.
Faced with information such as AI replacing translation jobs, foreign language learners becoming disadvantaged groups with difficulty finding jobs in the future, Tran Trang Anh (Hanoi) was very confused. When Hanoi University organized an admissions fair at the beginning of the second semester, Trang Anh went to school to listen to the teachers' advice. After that session, she realized that foreign languages are still a useful tool in future work, so she decided to register her wish to major in Chinese Language and plans to study a dual degree in Business Administration at the school.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong, Vice Principal of Hanoi University, said that every year, the school always organizes an admissions fair for high school students, which takes place at the beginning of the second semester. By participating in the fair, parents and students can observe the school's facilities with their own eyes; receive in-depth consultation because there are full representatives of the training faculties, and meet student clubs. Of which, the most valuable is in-depth consultation because there is a private space to meet parents and candidates.
The school knows clearly the content that parents and candidates are interested in. The school itself has the opportunity to advise candidates carefully, helping them make better choices according to their career orientation and abilities. Through questions from parents and candidates, the school adjusts announcements and provides more detailed information so that everyone can clearly understand the admission information, avoid confusion, and increase the chance of being admitted.
According to Dr. Le Anh Duc, candidates do not need to care about the conversion formula, because current regulations require candidates to only register for the major at the university they want to study. From candidate data, the Ministry of Education and Training filters and selects the most beneficial admission method and combination for them.
Easy to lose opportunity
Many parents and candidates are wondering why they are not considering early admission but still have to register information on the school's admission portal from now on? According to Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of Training Management Department, candidates applying to the National Economics University are required to register data on the school's admission system from June 1. With the graduation exam results method, candidates still have to register information even though the registration deadline ends before localities announce the exam scores. When the exam results are available, the school will take data from the Ministry of Education and Training to convert the score scale. Therefore, if candidates do not register their wishes, they will not have the opportunity to apply to the National Economics University. This is a difference compared to 2024 due to changes in the admission regulations. Candidates register so that the school has data to convert the score scale, not early admission.
Mr. Duc also said that recently, the National Economics University surveyed the academic results of admitted students in the past 3 years and found that, at the same level, candidates admitted by combining the results of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam and English certificates had higher academic results than students admitted by other admission methods. According to Mr. Duc, candidates do not need to care about the conversion formula, because according to current regulations, candidates only need to register for the major at the university they want to study, from the transferred data, the Ministry of Education and Training will filter and select the most beneficial admission method and combination for them.
Mr. Duc reminded candidates of two things. First, when the university requires candidates to update data on the system, candidates must do so, otherwise they will lose their rights. Second, candidates need to register all their admission data on the system to have more chances of being admitted.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Anh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), the conversion framework issued by the Ministry is to guide and support training institutions in developing conversion rules conveniently, in accordance with the characteristics of the training sector, while ensuring a unified approach within the system, not to guide candidates to convert their own scores. This year's admission regulations require training institutions to develop equivalent conversion rules to determine reasonable admission scores according to each admission method and combination, instead of letting the admission score depend entirely on the quota allocated to each admission method and combination as in previous years.
The Ministry of Education and Training requires that the institutions that organize separate exams must participate in specifying these conversion frameworks, in accordance with the characteristics of each exam and the exam results in 2025. Due to the characteristics and nature of different exams, the establishment of a common conversion framework requires considering many factors, both scientific and practical, and the ability to apply.
