The price of durian today, May 26, 2025, shows stability and a slight increase in the Western, Southeast and Central Highlands regions. In the Western region, the price of Ri6 A durian ranges from 50,000 - 54,000 VND/kg, while Thai A durian costs from 75,000 - 80,000 VND/kg. In the Southeast, the price of Ri6 durian also remains at a similar level, with Ri6 B from 36,000 - 38,000 VND/kg.

The Central Highlands recorded Ri6 A prices ranging from VND50,000 to VND53,000 per kilogram, indicating price uniformity across regions. Musang King durian continued to hold the highest position, with prices ranging from VND115,000 to VND125,000 per kilogram, reflecting strong demand for this variety. Overall, stable durian prices indicate that the market is gradually recovering and showing positive signs in consumption.

Export difficulties: Vietnamese durian is "squeezed" into China

Besides positive domestic signals, Vietnam's durian industry is facing major challenges from its key export market, China.

According to the first quarter report of 2025, Vietnam's durian exports to China decreased by 71.3% in volume and 74% in value. Vietnam's market share here dropped dramatically, from 42.1% to 28.2%. The reason comes from fierce competition from Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, along with measures to tighten inspection of 100% of shipments from China.

In addition, the limited number of approved growing area codes and packing facilities, along with uneven durian quality, make it difficult for export businesses to clear customs and access major markets.
