The State Bank has just issued an official dispatch requesting credit institutions to restructure debt repayment terms, consider reducing or exempting interest rates, and continue to provide new loans to support customers in restoring production and business activities after storm Wipha (storm No. 3).
According to the State Bank, from July 19, 2025 to present, storm No. 3 has caused severe damage to people and property, greatly affecting the lives and production of people in the Northern and North Central provinces.
To promptly support people to overcome difficulties, the State Bank requires credit institutions and State Bank branches in Regions 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12 to immediately deploy necessary support measures.
Specifically, banks must direct branches and transaction offices to urgently review and evaluate the situation of customers who are borrowing capital to apply appropriate forms of support such as: restructuring debt repayment terms, exempting and reducing interest rates, continuing to provide new loans in accordance with regulations. At the same time, instruct customers to complete debt settlement documents if any arise.
For State Bank branches in localities affected by the storm, it is required to coordinate with local credit institutions to immediately deploy measures to support people. At the same time, it is necessary to proactively coordinate with departments, branches and sectors to advise the People's Committees of provinces and cities on solutions to overcome the damage caused by the storm.
