The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) recently revealed a list of the 10 highest-paid jobs in the land of kangaroos, with the health sector taking up 4 spots on the list.
According to Yahoo News, surgeons are the highest paid jobs in Australia, with an average income of 457,281 AUD/year (equivalent to 306,550 USD/year). There are currently a total of 4,157 surgeons in Australia. Ranked second are anaesthetists (3,479 people) with an average income of 426,894 AUD/year. Ranked third are financial traders (4,761 people) with an average income of 341,798 AUD/year. Internal medicine physicians in Australia (10,055 people) earn an average of AUD 334,267/year, ranking 4th. While psychologists (3,071 people) ranked 5th with an average income of AUD 270,412/year, other specialists (28,947 people) ranked 6th with an average income of AUD 251,722/year.

The 7th and 8th positions respectively belong to mining engineers (9,127 people) with an average income of 196,178 AUD/year, legal and judicial experts (4,025 people) with an average income of 193,388 AUD/year. Yahoo News said it is worth noting that compared to the occupations on the ATO list, chief executive officer (CEO) is the job with the most employees (222,015 people) ranked 9th, with an average income of 177,506 AUD/year. Ranked 10th on the ATO list is the profession of financial investment consulting and management (20,268 people) earning an average of 169,608 AUD/year.
Along with the list of the 10 highest-paid jobs, the ATO also revealed that the average income in Australia is 68,289 AUD/year. In addition, the group of people with income from 44,001 AUD to 120,000 AUD/year accounts for 44.5% of the total number of workers in Australia, while the number of people earning from 18,201 AUD to 45,000 AUD/year accounts for 29%. The number of people with income from 180,001 AUD/year or more accounts for 4.1% of the total number of workers in Australia and this is the group that has to pay very high income tax, up to 35.4%.
