Whether in small classrooms on the border or bustling schoolyards in the city, there are teachers who tirelessly ignite the flame of passion in their students with their love for the profession and quiet dedication. They not only impart knowledge but also inspire dreams, awaken potential, and instill in each student the belief to continue on their educational journey. Thanks to these inspiring teachers, many young people find motivation, direction, and the aspiration to change their lives.

From milk cans to village school teacher's orchestra

Over the years, Ham Minh Secondary School in Ham Thuan Nam commune (Lam Dong province) has faced many difficulties regarding facilities, especially equipment for music lessons. However, thanks to the dedication and creativity of teacher Ha Minh Tu, music lessons are always as lively as a performance.

Teacher Ha Minh Tu's "one-of-a-kind" orchestra.

Without drums, the teacher repurposed milk cans, bamboo sticks, and wood, guiding the students to make clappers; soda can rings threaded onto wire loops became rattles and tambourines. Green beans put into plastic bottles and shaken to make maracas. The whole class was excited to make their own instruments, then joined the teacher in creating a unique orchestra.

Besides guiding students in creating percussion instruments from discarded milk cans, cookie boxes, or bamboo tubes, teacher Ha Minh Tu also ignites a passion for music in his students by flexibly applying the 2018 General Education Program, especially the "Instrumental Ensemble" content. This is a novel learning section that allows students to directly experience and express their emotions through music.

To make the lessons more lively, Mr. Tú encouraged students and their parents to equip themselves with "keyboards," a type of musical instrument capable of expressing a wide range of melodies. Initially, he brought his own keyboard to class to demonstrate and inspire his students. After a year, thanks to his persistent guidance, most students had their own instruments, making each lesson more vibrant and engaging.

Mr. Vo Duc Anh, Vice Principal of Ham Minh Secondary School, commented: “Mr. Ha Minh Tu has strong professional competence, is always dedicated to his profession, and wholeheartedly committed to his students. In his teaching, he is creative and flexible, helping students to love music, develop their talents, and confidently express themselves.”

Music lessons at Ham Minh Secondary School are filled with joy for the students.

Thanks to his dedication and creativity, many students discovered their passion for music and were guided by him to pursue a professional artistic career. Some students have achieved high results in singing and performing competitions at the provincial and regional levels, including Nguyen Hoang Hanh Tien, who is now a singer and vocal instructor.

“Through Mr. Tú’s piano lessons, I was inspired with a passion for music, which led me to pursue a singing career and become a vocal teacher. Many of my friends and younger students have also been inspired by Mr. Tú’s creative and fun music lessons,” Hạnh Tiên shared.

For Mr. Tú, music doesn't need to be sophisticated; it just needs to touch the hearts of listeners and make students enjoy music lessons. "Seeing the students so passionate, I feel that all my efforts are completely worthwhile," he said.

"The digital classroom" of a teacher in the border region.

Born and raised in a border region, teacher Nguyen Thi Hong understands better than anyone the hardships faced by students in border areas. Many children come to class with broken sandals and worn-out school bags, but they still overcome difficulties to attend school.

That's what kept her at Nguyen Du Primary and Secondary School in Tuy Duc border commune ( Lam Dong province) for over 10 years, transforming her from a young teacher into an inspiration for both teachers and students there.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong "digitized" her lessons, helping students have meaningful learning sessions.

Ms. Hong shared that teaching in border areas is not just about facilities, but also about making learning meaningful and enjoyable for the students. She chose technology as a way to ignite the joy of learning for the children here.

Driven by a desire to innovate teaching and learning methods, Ms. Hong began exploring the use of digital tools. From Canva and ChatGPT to interactive learning software, she learned using her phone, experimenting with each lesson and adjusting every detail. And then, the first "digital classroom" at Nguyen Du School was born – small but colorful, engaging, and filled with laughter.

In Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong's class, the blackboard and chalk give way to a vibrant projection screen. Students not only read and copy but also interact, play, and create. Math problems are no longer dry thanks to vivid illustrations; essay writing becomes interesting when students can "converse" with the AI to find ideas.

Interesting lessons for both teacher and students.

“What I like most is when the teacher uses games for homework. She creates fun shapes, and we learn and laugh at the same time while still understanding the lesson,” said Ho Cat Tuc Mach, a third-grade student.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong is also the Secretary of the Youth Union branch at the school. She initiated many creative movements such as "Learning Fun with AI," "Experience Technology - Discover Knowledge," and small AI-based competitions to help students showcase their creative abilities.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, Vice Principal of Nguyen Du Primary and Secondary School, commented that Ms. Hong is dynamic, creative, and has a great influence. She is not only professionally competent but also highly responsible, serving as a prime example in the school's digital transformation movement.

Teachers like Mr. Tú and Ms. Hồng are daily igniting the flame of passion in the hearts of their students. It is through this dedication that the learning journey becomes light and inspiring, and from these simple classrooms, countless dreams are kindled and set to shine.
