Kon Gang Commune (Gia Lai Province) is famous for its fertile land and favorable climate, with great potential for growing coffee, pepper and many other agricultural products. Thanks to this fertile land, Kon Gang Commune has become a convergence point of many cooperatives, where farmers cooperate in production, apply modern techniques and together improve agricultural products, aiming for sustainable agriculture .

According to records, Kon Gang commune currently has 6 agricultural cooperatives with more than 200 members participating. Each cooperative has its own direction and strengths, but all play a core role in accompanying farmers. Through organizing methodical production, guiding the application of technical advances and supporting safe farming processes, cooperatives help people improve productivity and quality of agricultural products. At the same time, cooperatives also play a role as a bridge with businesses, ensuring stable output, helping farmers feel secure in investing in production, reducing risks and gradually developing a sustainable economy .

Kon Gang Agricultural and Service Business Cooperative (village 5, Kon Gang commune) is considered one of the bright spots of the locality. Although there were only 6 members contributing initial capital, by organizing production systematically and creating trust for farmers, the Cooperative has linked 185 households to participate in planting more than 320 hectares of coffee, including 64 ethnic minority households. Attracting a large number of households shows that the Cooperative is not only a place to support techniques and consume products, but also a solid foundation for people to feel secure in production, increase income and gradually develop agriculture in a sustainable direction.

Participating from the early days when Kon Gang Agricultural and Service Business Cooperative was newly established, Mr. Hoang Dinh Lung's family (village 5, Kon Gang commune) received comprehensive support. With 1.2 hectares of coffee, Mr. Lung was instructed by the Cooperative on cultivation techniques and connected to stable output.

“Previously, I fertilized based on my feelings, and the yield was unstable. Thanks to the cooperative’s technical guidance and output linkage support, my family’s coffee has grown well, reaching a yield of 4.5 tons of beans/ha. Not only that, the selling price is also transparent and stable, helping my family feel secure in production,” Mr. Lung shared.

Mr. Trinh Khac Duong, Director of Kon Gang Agricultural and Service Cooperative, said that in the past, people mainly produced on a small scale, so the Cooperative took the lead in purchasing fresh coffee, processing beans and linking consumption with Vinh Hiep Company Limited, while applying the 4C coffee production chain, receiving an additional bonus of 300 VND/kg compared to the market price. Thanks to training in techniques for caring for and harvesting ripe fruit and using fertilizers and pesticides according to the correct process, the average yield reached about 4.5 tons of beans/ha, and the quality of the beans was also significantly improved.

"In the coming time, the cooperative will expand cooperation with potential enterprises, focus on investing in technology, capital and product consumption, gradually building a sustainable coffee production chain, helping farmers develop stably, gradually reducing fragmented production," Mr. Duong shared.

Established in 2017 and currently having 130 members, Nam Yang Agricultural and Service Cooperative (village 1, Kon Gang commune) is becoming a prominent highlight not only in the locality but also in the whole Gia Lai province. The Cooperative is currently managing more than 200 hectares of crops including 120 hectares of coffee and 80 hectares of pepper. Of which, more than 30 hectares have been certified organic according to US and European standards. The remaining area is being gradually converted to organic production, creating a foundation for high-quality, safe and sustainable products.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Cong, Director of Nam Yang Agricultural and Service Cooperative, said that the unit aims to increase the value of agricultural products, focusing on developing organic coffee and pepper. At the same time, it invests in modern processing machinery, from harvesting to processing, to create quintessential products that are competitive in the domestic and international markets.

By the end of June 2025, the Cooperative had 5 products recognized as national 5-star OCOP including: Fine Robusta coffee, Dak Yang coffee, Le Chi organic red pepper, Le Chi organic black pepper and Le Chi organic white pepper.

“Thanks to achieving 5-star OCOP, the cooperative's products quickly affirmed their reputation, attracting attention and orders from many domestic and foreign partners. The products not only bring higher economic value to farmers, but also contribute to raising the position of Vietnamese agricultural products, opening up opportunities for sustainable export and long-term development,” Mr. Cong shared.

Mr. Nguyen Kim Anh, Head of the Economic Department of Kon Gang Commune, said that cooperatives in the area are playing a key role in helping farmers, especially ethnic minority farmers, improve their production capacity. When participating in cooperatives, people are trained in techniques, produce according to sustainable processes and ensure output thanks to businesses purchasing their products.

Thanks to the close connection between farmers, cooperatives and enterprises, Kon Gang commune’s agriculture is gradually transforming towards modernity, efficiency and sustainability. In the coming time, the commune will continue to encourage people to connect through cooperatives, while supporting brand building and product quality certification, helping agricultural products reach further, creating sustainable economic value for people.
