Warm and affectionate houses in Thuan My commune

Each house donated by the Great Solidarity not only helps poor and near-poor households in Thuan My commune, Tay Ninh province have a solid and safe place to live, but also opens up opportunities to escape poverty sustainably. A newly built house is a warm story of sharing, a fulcrum for families to rise up, stabilize their lives and look forward to a better future.

In the small house that was just built, Mr. Chau Van Danh and his wife (residing in Binh An hamlet) could not hide their joy. The family is near-poor, the main source of income depends on hired labor, so the dream of owning a solid house for the couple is still quite far away.

With the support of the local government, in 2025, Mr. Danh and his wife were awarded a solidarity house. The house was just completed not long ago.

Mr. Danh said: “My house used to be made of wooden pillars and leaf walls, very dilapidated and we didn’t have the money to rebuild it. Luckily, thanks to the support from the Great Unity House, my wife and I have a house like this. Not having to worry about housing means my wife and I have one less burden.”

Mr. Chau Van Danh's family (residing in Binh An hamlet) received financial support to build a Great Unity house in 2025, thanks to which, the family has one less worry.

The new house not only brings joy to Mr. Danh and his wife, but also motivates them to continue to rise up and overcome their current difficult circumstances. In addition to the house, Mr. Danh and his wife were also given the opportunity to receive 2 breeding cows, thereby creating conditions for the family's economic development. After a period of care, both cows are preparing to give birth to calves.

Mr. Danh shared excitedly: “Thanks to these two cows, my family will probably escape near-poverty by the end of this year. With the government’s care, my family has both a house and an additional livelihood. I think my family will have a happy Tet this year.”

Mr. Danh's family is one of 11 poor, near-poor, and housing-challenged households that have received funding from the local government to build houses this year. Each new house built not only helps people settle down, but also becomes a spiritual "support", adding confidence and motivation for them in their journey to escape poverty and stabilize their lives.

Leaving Mr. Danh's house, we visited the family of Le Thi Kieu Oanh (14 years old), a near-poor girl in Phu Tay A hamlet. Her mother died early, her father worked far away, Oanh took care of herself in a small house in the middle of the rice fields. Realizing her situation, the local government mobilized funds to build a new, solid house for Oanh. Not only that, the commune also mobilized relatives to support Oanh so that her new house could be built next to her maternal home, to facilitate care, protection and to help her have a spiritual "support".

The new house of Le Thi Kieu Oanh (residing in Phu Tay A hamlet) was built next to her maternal grandparents' house so that her family could take care of and protect her.

Mr. Nguyen Van On, Oanh's grandfather, emotionally said: "Since the day my mother passed away, I have been very worried about my granddaughter living alone in a dilapidated house on the riverbank, but I don't know what to do. Luckily, the local government and philanthropists have supported her and built a new house for her right next to mine. I am very happy. Living right next door, I can keep an eye on her and take care of her. Oanh also studies hard and is cared for by the school. I hope that thanks to this, Oanh will have more motivation to study and try hard so that life will be less difficult in the future."

Houses of love like the case of Mr. Danh's family or Oanh's are clear evidence of the efforts to care for social security in Thuan My commune. Giving houses not only solves immediate difficulties, but also opens up opportunities for poor households to develop their economy. Many families after receiving houses have boldly invested in production, feel secure in doing business, and have the conditions to care for their children's education. That is the sustainable effect that warm and loving houses bring.

Each solidarity house built is not just a house, but a warm home for families to feel the care of the government and society and continue to strive and improve in life.

According to information from the People's Committee of Thuan My commune, the commune currently has 30 poor households and 135 near-poor households. According to the plan, by 2025, the commune strives to have at least 14 households escape poverty, gradually reducing the poverty rate in a sustainable manner.

To achieve this goal, Thuan My not only focuses on housing support but also focuses on livelihood support, job creation, support for students in difficult circumstances, etc. Activities to support poor and near-poor households to access loans from the Social Policy Bank or revolving capital contribution groups are also given special attention./.
