AI-powered camera systems are being installed at intersections and busy traffic areas to cover all vehicles. According to authorities, the system will soon be officially operational, using AI technology to analyze real-time images and detect violations such as running red lights, illegal parking, driving in the wrong lane, not wearing a helmet, not wearing a seatbelt, or using a phone while driving. The data will be transmitted to a central processing center and automatically compared with a database to identify the vehicle owner with high accuracy.

A camera has been installed on Ngo Quyen Street, Dong Kinh Ward.
Although not yet operational, the presence of AI cameras has already changed people's traffic behavior. Mr. Hoang Tuan Tu, a resident of Luong Van Tri ward, shared: "Every day I walk for exercise around Quang Trung and Tran Hung Dao streets... Since the AI cameras were installed, I've noticed people are more self-aware. When pedestrians cross the road, cars and motorbikes readily yield. Running red lights is no longer an issue." Mr. Tu also noted that previously there were still some cases of people riding electric scooters without helmets, but now this situation has significantly decreased.
Since this camera system was installed, even without law enforcement officers stationed at the checkpoints, road users have proactively reduced their speed, stayed in their lanes, and stopped at the designated lines, contributing to safe, orderly, and smooth urban traffic.

People obey traffic lights at the My Son intersection, Dong Kinh ward.
Ms. Nguyen Huong Ngan from Ky Lua ward likened AI cameras to "all-seeing eyes" that operate silently and continuously everywhere. She said: "Since the AI camera system was installed, people participating in traffic are more patient, no longer rushing or competing for the road like before. At red lights, they stop and wait according to regulations, yielding to pedestrians. As a result, traffic is more orderly and safer."
Previously, many road users were careless, running red lights or talking on the phone while driving, posing numerous traffic safety risks. However, with the installation of AI cameras on many roads, these behaviors have significantly decreased. Road users now proactively obey traffic signals, focus on observing their surroundings, and operate their vehicles according to regulations, contributing to a more orderly, civilized, and safer traffic environment.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phi Son, a delivery driver in Tam Thanh ward, expressed: "Due to the nature of my job, I have to constantly move around on the streets every day. I think that when AI cameras officially come into operation, people will definitely not dare to violate the rules anymore because the fines are very high. For example, before, I occasionally saw people holding their phones while driving, but with AI cameras, people comply, don't drive in the wrong lane or use their phones."

At the intersection of Ngo Quyen Street and National Highway 1A, a location with many potential accident risks, people strictly obey traffic lights.
The above opinions reflect widespread consensus among the people of Lang Son , where traffic is facing numerous challenges due to the increasing density of vehicles. Previously, there were many instances of carelessness, such as running red lights or using mobile phones while driving, leading to the risk of accidents. Now, awareness of traffic regulations has improved, contributing to a more civilized traffic environment.
The operating mechanism of the Traffic Police Department's AI traffic cameras is that the cameras automatically analyze images using AI to identify more than 20 traffic violations (running red lights, speeding, lane violations, not wearing a helmet, using a phone while driving, etc.) and automatically record them. They then compare this information with the vehicle registration database to identify the vehicle owner, send a notification to the command center for manual verification by officers, and finally send a penalty notice to the vehicle owner. This notice is then publicly posted and integrated into the VNeID and VNeTraffic applications. |
Safety thanks to technology
Currently, the construction unit is installing AI cameras at 9 intersections, including: 830 Ba Trieu Street, Ba Trieu - Phai Ve intersection, Dong Kinh Market intersection, Ba Trieu - Le Loi intersection, Ly Thuong Kiet - Hoang Quoc Viet intersection, Ngo Quyen - Le Dai Hanh intersection, Ngo Quyen - National Highway 1A intersection towards Loc Binh, Tran Phu - National Highway 1A intersection towards Cao Loc, Bong Lau - National Highway 1A intersection, Minh Khai - Le Lai intersection... Once completed, the cameras will be handed over to the Lang Son Provincial Police for inspection and use.
AI cameras are security surveillance devices that use artificial intelligence to perform monitoring functions. These cameras are highly regarded by users due to their combination of advanced technological features, synchronization capabilities across multiple devices, and intelligent data processing programs. Some notable features of AI cameras include: object recognition, facial recognition, license plate recognition, motion tracking, and analysis of unusual behaviors. Before official operation, the AI camera system is "trained" to recognize common violations. During operation, the system continues to learn from real-world data, thereby improving its recognition capabilities and accuracy. In addition, AI cameras can process images and videos in real time, enhancing surveillance efficiency.
Upon detecting a violation, an alert is issued immediately. The AI system identifies and tracks the violator on the screen, assisting law enforcement in quick identification. The cameras can rotate 360 degrees and zoom up to 700 meters for detailed monitoring. Image data transmitted to the center is automatically compared with relevant databases to identify the vehicle owner. Violation information is recorded specifically regarding the time, route, location, and type of violation. Officers then monitor the live camera footage and verify the violations compiled by the AI system to minimize errors before forwarding the file to the enforcement department. Afterward, a violation notification is sent to the vehicle owner's registered address and posted on the website for public access. The vehicle owner will then go to the location where the violation was detected or to their local police station for verification and processing according to regulations.
The deployment of AI cameras in Lang Son is considered an important step in building a civilized and modern city. With the consensus of the community, this system promises to contribute to reducing accidents and ensuring safety for all road users.
