VOV.VN - The 73rd Miss Universe pageant has officially begun in Mexico City, and contestants have participated in the national costume contest within the preliminary round. This contest is a playground for beauties to express their country's cultural identity through unique and colorful costumes.

At the Miss Universe pageant, Miss Nicaragua Geyssell García walked a dazzling runway behind a miniature replica of the León Cathedral, inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage Site. García wore cathedral-themed pieces and long peacock feathers on her forearms. As she moved, her bejeweled bodysuit shimmered with flame motifs, inspired by the mythical phoenix, as she introduced herself as she took the stage. She also wore a multicolored round hat, trimmed with a gold band, representing the different lakes of Nicaragua.

Miss Venezuela Ileana Marquez Pedroza wore an outfit that made her look like she had just stepped out of the Amazon rainforest. The 28-year-old beauty wore a tan, sparkly bodysuit with green bikini-style pieces at the chest and hips. Behind the glittering outfit was a cover designed to look like leaves and branches, transforming Pedroza into a mother of nature, peace and indigenous children, according to the pageant's introduction. To further convey this message, Pedroza had fake parrots attached to the branches of the costume and a baby doll in her arms.

Miss Zimbabwe Sakhile Dube wanted to represent the majesty of her country with an eagle-inspired dress.
