The first Rocket Battalion was established on April 22, 1954 in an old forest in Tuan Giao district, codenamed 224, under the 351st Artillery Division. This battalion consisted of 2 companies, each company used 6 6-barrel H6 Cachiusa rocket launchers provided by the Soviet Union. The appearance of H6 in the 3rd attack of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign made the French army confused and terrified thanks to its power with the roaring wind and continuous, continuous series of bullets fired at enemy targets. Thanks to that, the French artillery positions in the Dien Bien Phu basin were almost completely paralyzed, contributing to creating conditions for the infantry to attack and destroy the entire Dien Bien Phu stronghold on the afternoon of May 7, 1954.
