In particular, this is an exciting activity held annually in April at all high schools across Hanoi . In that atmosphere, on the morning of April 15, 2024, the Book Festival with the theme "Quintessence of Vietnamese Art" was solemnly opened at MV Lomonosov Secondary and High School.
The book reading festival with the theme "Quintessence of Vietnamese art" was solemnly opened at MV Lomonosov Secondary and High School.
Before the opening day of the Reading Festival, teacher Ngo Thi Hong Ha - Vice Principal of Lomonosov MV Secondary and High School emphasized: "This year, the Reading Festival chose the theme "Quintessence of Vietnamese Art" to focuson educating the fine traditions of national culture to each student. Moreover, the goal of this Festival is completely consistent with the core spirit of the new General Education Program, helping students develop comprehensively".
Receiving the important task assigned by the Board of Directors, the Literature group successfully organized the opening ceremony of the Reading Festival, leaving a good impression on the delegates and students of the whole school.
The highlight of the ceremony was the art program that fully converged the quintessence of the three regions. An open stage was set up right in the middle of the school yard, where the audience could most authentically enjoy the extremely elaborate art performances: the Xam singing performance combined with contemporary hiphop dance symbolizing the characteristics of the Red River Delta and the reenactment of the bustling market scene in Thang Long; the performance of Wooden Fish Going to the Market imbued with the artistic beauty and soul of the Central people who are hardworking, studious, and respectful of their teachers; the song Song of the Southern Land brought the audience back to the Southern region with its abundant rivers and water, and the song One Round of Vietnam was a beautiful ending to the promotion of the quintessence of Vietnamese art to young audiences.
Many attractive special performances
An important contribution to the success of the opening ceremony of the Reading Festival was the extremely unique book introduction. The book introduced at the Reading Festival of MV Lomonosov Secondary and High School this year was “Vietnamese Civilization” by researcher Nguyen Van Huyen.
The book introduces to readers the rich, diverse traditional beauty of Vietnamese civilization, with the hope of inspiring young readers to love and be proud of the beauty of national culture.
In addition, guests and students participating in the Reading Festival can also admire the book display areas, attend the folk painting exhibition... Activities to promote reading culture continue to take place throughout April 15 and the following days. These include the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the "My Beloved Book" contest, booths displaying, introducing and exchanging books from bookstores and organizations such as Alphabooks, OEA, FPT Afterschool...
Students are engrossed in many interesting experiences.
Just stepping out of a booth exchanging books for plants, Nguyen Truc Linh, a student of class 6E, excitedly said: “I am really looking forward to the Book Festival. The festival is both fun and useful, helping me study better in my Literature lessons in class, because I have a better understanding of my country’s culture.”
King Tran Nhan Tong - an outstanding king in Vietnamese history, once had a wish: "Ban song dang anh, man sang thu" (Nguyet poem), which means "Under the light of a lamp, a bed full of books". The tradition of reading books and respect for learning has accompanied Vietnamese history for centuries, contributing to the development of the country. That is also the expectation of the Vietnamese Government for the future of the country, when books become an indispensable part of the life of every citizen. That important task partly depends on education in general schools, where the reading culture is spread to generations of students, where Book Festivals are continued annually to contribute to nurturing worthy global citizens.
