Vietnam Education Publishing House (VEP) has just informed about the training and fostering of teachers and the supply of textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11 for the 2023-2024 school year.
Accordingly, the Education Publishing House has prepared a full range of documents and data to serve training work, including: electronic versions of textbooks, teacher books, teacher training materials on using textbooks; videos introducing textbooks, etc.
All the above documents and data are posted for free on the website: www.taphuan.nxbgd.vn so that managers and teachers can proactively learn and research. The training and development of teachers is continued to be organized and implemented by the Education Publishing House throughout the school year when requested by localities.
Regarding the supply of textbooks so that students have enough books before the new school year, by August 27, the Education Publishing House had completed printing and warehousing 100% of the textbook plan for grades 5, 9, 12 (according to the 2000 program); completed printing and warehousing 100% of the textbook plan for grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 10 (according to the 2018 program); completed printing and warehousing 100% of the original plan and nearly 5 million newly-arrived textbooks for grades 4, 8, 11. Currently, some localities continue to have small additions, the Education Publishing House is continuing to make efforts to print and supply enough before the opening day.
Currently, the Education Publishing House has supplied enough textbooks for all grades ordered by localities. At the same time, it is continuing to supply new quantities from some provinces and cities, ensuring that students have enough textbooks before the new school year begins. Textbooks for all grades are fully sold at retail stores of Education Publishing House member units and local distribution partners nationwide.
Regarding selling prices, for textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11, which will be implemented from the 2023-2024 school year, the Education Publishing House will continue to cut costs to reduce selling prices. The prices of textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11 are 4%-6% lower than those for grades 3, 7, and 10. For textbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 10 under the 2018 program and grades 5, 9, and 12 under the 2000 program, book prices remain stable as in previous years.
To avoid buying pirated or fake books, teachers, parents and students should buy books at official distribution systems of the Education Publishing House, local book and school equipment companies, and not buy books from unknown sources on the market.
To ensure enough textbooks for the 2023-2024 school year for students nationwide, to ensure that disadvantaged students have enough textbooks when entering the new school year as well as to create a source of learning and teaching materials for students and teachers to use together in school libraries, the Education Publishing House organizes two support programs: Together we go to school and Shared textbook shelves.
In particular, the program "Following you to school" has donated over 100,000 sets of textbooks to poor students and students in difficult circumstances in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 in all provinces and cities nationwide. Up to this point, the program has been completed by the Education Publishing House, donating all the books to the students before the new school year begins.
The shared textbook cabinet program donates shared textbook cabinets to primary schools/schools in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, border areas, islands, etc. nationwide. The number is about 1,000 cabinets. Each bookcase includes 120 sets of textbooks and 8 sets of teachers' books from grades 1 to 4 according to the 2018 General Education Program. The shared textbook cabinets are expected to be completed and donated in October 2023.
