April 30, 1975 is a special event for the whole nation. Because this is the moment of national independence and national unification. This is also the starting point to start rebuilding the homeland and country after years of heavy devastation by war.

Like the whole country, Tien Giang is no exception. But the post-war reconstruction was not easy, especially for a province with a small population, whose main characteristic is still poor and backward agricultural production like Tien Giang.
In that context, thoroughly grasping the policies and guidelines of the Party Central Committee, promoting the tradition of indomitable resilience, the spirit of diligence and creativity of the people, the Tien Giang Party Committee has focused all efforts on comprehensively leading the work of economic restoration, renovation and development.
Through many efforts and synchronous implementation of many solutions, just after 2 years after the complete liberation of the South (1975 - 1976), the Party Committee and people of Tien Giang province have achieved great achievements such as completely building a revolutionary government system from the province to the commune, gradually stabilizing social order, completing the management of puppet troops and puppet authorities, bringing the majority of farmers back to their old fields and gardens to restore production, wiping out the remnants of the feudal regime, ensuring that all activities of the people gradually stabilize. This is a very important initial foundation as a premise for the people of Tien Giang to firmly move forward to build a rich and beautiful homeland in the following years.
One of the key tasks of Tien Giang after the complete liberation of the South was to utilize and exploit its potential to promote economic development and improve people's lives. Therefore, the policy of economic recovery and development was concretized through resolutions of Tien Giang's congresses.
Based on practical requirements, on the economic front, Tien Giang has focused on implementing important programs and projects. Typical examples include the program to exploit the barren land of Dong Thap Muoi, the policy of sweetening the Go Cong area, etc.
These programs and plans were implemented when Tien Giang embarked on the task of economic recovery and development right after the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. The economic development front, especially in the agricultural sector, continued for a long time.
Particularly from 1983 to 1985, Tien Giang effectively implemented the program of comprehensive exploitation of high-quality rice areas, the program of marine exploitation, the program of building specialized industrial crop areas, the program of comprehensive exploitation of garden economy, the program of reorganizing and developing industry and handicrafts, etc.
WIND OF INNOVATION
When the wind of innovation that began in 1986 spread throughout the country, Tien Giang also began the innovation process. In addition to overcoming the limitations in economic development in the previous period, Tien Giang focused on implementing economic programs; at the same time, it focused all its efforts on reorganizing production, developing transportation and irrigation, organizing land reclamation, trying to apply scientific and technical advances to intensive farming, implementing the slogan "Food is the Fatherland".

A clear highlight of the economic transformation to multi-sector commodity production, operating under a market mechanism with state management, initially agriculture - forestry - fishery developed more comprehensively, achieving and exceeding many important targets, especially in food production and seafood capture.
In particular, for the first time, Tien Giang achieved 1 million tons of food in 1990 on an area of about 100,000 hectares; while aquaculture, exploitation, processing and export of aquatic products increased (in 1990, domestic exploitation increased by 81%, marine exploitation increased by 8% and export turnover doubled compared to 1986)...
Entering the integration period, Tien Giang economy has begun to transform, gradually realizing the goal of industrialization and modernization. Along with other economic sectors, the private economic sector tends to grow, mobilizing more and more investment capital into production and business, contributing to the economic restructuring, promoting competition, creating new and more dynamic factors for the economy in the market economy mechanism.

Accordingly, industrial and handicraft production also grew with new technology changes, gradually improving product quality and expanding consumer markets. Industries that have the ability to promote competitive advantages, dominate the domestic market and boost exports include: Agricultural and aquatic product processing industry, garment industry...
From a personal perspective, as a 60-year Party member, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh, Director of Song Tien Joint Stock Company, said that April 30 this year was probably the happiest day in her revolutionary life.
Looking back at the past 50 years of Tien Giang, it can be said that the implementation of policies, guidelines and strategies has been “closely intertwined” by Tien Giang, meeting the common needs of society. Although there have been changes over the past 50 years, Tien Giang province has promptly grasped them; at the same time, Tien Giang has flexibly applied the policies of the Party and the State, promptly responded to them, and created favorable conditions for business development such as: Tax and salary policies, etc.
In particular, the policy of caring for families of policy beneficiaries, war invalids and martyrs has been implemented very well by Tien Giang. At the same time, investment in infrastructure, especially traffic infrastructure, has also received special attention from Tien Giang. Up to now, many roads in remote areas, formerly muddy, have been paved, greatly changing the appearance of the countryside; order and security are ensured.
Not to mention, Tien Giang also focuses on education and training, especially for cadres, civil servants and public employees. "Reflecting on the past time, I see that each year Tien Giang has changed and matured and this achievement cannot be denied. I highly appreciate the leadership and management role of Tien Giang province's leaders over the past 50 years" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh emphasized.
