#VN1945 ” is a revolutionary music project by the OPlus group, consisting of four singers: Quang Minh, Tung Linh, Tung Lam, and Duc Tung, all from the 9X generation. Their goal is to convey the message that “revolutionary music” is not just a thing of the past, but also represents fervent patriotism, something that any generation can be proud of and happy to listen to. Singer Duc Tung expressed that revolutionary music remains a vibrant source of inspiration for all generations, not just a memory of the past. Through new arrangements and a contemporary singing style, the group hopes to bring this historically valuable genre closer to Generation Z, becoming a bridge between those born during wartime and the younger generation growing up in peacetime.

Extending the love for

The OPlus group performed one of the songs from the "#VN1945" project.

OPlus chose the name “#VN1945” because it was taken from the year 1945, the year of the successful August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, marking a milestone of national independence and freedom. Based on this message, the group used the concept of a postage stamp—once a symbol of communication lines—as the project's visual identity. OPlus built the “#VN1945” project as a postal system across time, where each song is a “historical package” carrying the nation's memories. When opening the album, listeners are like opening a letter with a postage stamp from 1945—a message from the past to the present and future.

This meaningful project begins with 7 songs, including 5 famous and familiar songs for many generations: "The National Guard" (Phan Huynh Dieu), "The Sound of the Pestle in Bom Bo Village" (Xuan Hong), "Love Song" (Hoang Viet), "In the Distant Island" (The Song), "The Song of Ho Chi Minh " (Ewan MacColl, Vietnamese lyrics by Phu An), along with 2 new songs composed by OPlus: "The Lac Hong Warriors" and "He Is the Light". Among these 7 songs, "The National Guard" is sung in a novel and impressive acapella style (vocals without musical accompaniment); "He Is the Light" was composed by the group with emotion, pride, and gratitude for leader Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh.

Sharing his thoughts on singing the opening song "The National Guard" in Acapella, singer Quang Minh, leader of the OPlus group, said: "The song was composed by Phan Huynh Dieu in the year Vietnam gained independence (1945). In that context, the 'Liberation Army' (later renamed the 'National Guard') was born as a vow of the young generation going to war: 'Go, go to preserve the rivers and mountains. Go, go, better to die than retreat...' The song was first popularized in Da Nang , on trains carrying troops heading south. The Viet Minh Propaganda and Arts Team (including the author) sang this fervent and determined melody of the young people going to save the country. The song's spread was very powerful, following the troops spreading to all fronts. Therefore, we wanted to express the work with authentic lyrics that resonate far and wide with pride."

The connection of the “#VN1945” project is also demonstrated through the participation of many Gen Z youth in creating brand identity and communication on social media channels in a way that resonates with young people. OPlus stated that during the working process, the team was surprised to see Gen Z exploring and having very profound perspectives on "revolutionary music" that were deeply rooted in love for their homeland and country, yet also extremely interesting and fresh. This is the motivation for the team to develop the project strongly in the future.

“#VN1945” is a project with a starting point but no end point. OPlus will extend and expand the project with subsequent popular songs, or new songs, as a mission to spread the message not only to the audience but also to young artists and cultural figures, contributing to preserving and reviving timeless musical values,” singer Quang Minh said.
