Content of the talks between the Presidents of Ukraine and Türkiye

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed Ankara's commitment to pushing forward diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to Xinhua News Agency, during talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Ankara on November 19, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized Ankara's commitment to promoting diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

"It would be beneficial if the Istanbul process is restarted with a comprehensive framework that can address the pressing issues of the day," President Erdogan said at a joint press conference, calling for international support for the initiative.

President Erdogan reaffirmed that Turkey is ready to discuss with Russia "any proposal that could accelerate the ceasefire and pave the way for a just and lasting peace ," and called on all partners seeking to end the conflict to adopt a constructive approach to revive the process.

It is known that Russian and Ukrainian delegations held the third round of peace talks in Istanbul (Türkiye) on July 23, 2025, agreeing to exchange prisoners but made no progress in ending the ongoing conflict.

For his part, President Zelensky said Ukraine hopes to restart the prisoner exchange (with Russia) by the end of this year.

“Türkiye is showing strong support on this issue,” he said, adding that Kiev trusts “Türkiye’s diplomatic strength and ability to be understood by Moscow.”

The Ukrainian leader also thanked President Erdogan for Türkiye's stance throughout the conflict.
