Ms. Hoang Thi Hoan's family and many other households in Khe Nhoi village have just received seeds and fertilizers to help overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Despite her lack of experience, Ms. Hoan still hopes to have more income in this production season. "The entire production land area is flooded so we cannot plant early. It's a bit late to plant now, but we have to do it," Ms. Hoan shared.

"Now my family's vegetable area is green and lush, I hope to sell it by the end of the year to have money to buy salt and fish sauce," said Ms. Ly Thi La, Khe Nhoi village, Son Thuy commune, Van Ban district.

After the circulation of storm No. 3, Son Thuy farmers focused on developing production and greening the fields.

More than 17 billion VND is the economic loss that Son Thuy commune suffered in the recent storm No. 3, including nearly 17 hectares of agricultural land buried, damaged, and even lost. To compensate for some of the damage and increase income for the people, the local Party Committee and government focused on propaganda and accompanying the people to produce 20 hectares of winter crops on double-crop rice fields. At the same time, they oriented the crop structure, guided the time frame, care techniques, and connected to find output for the products. Mr. Ma Duc Tuan, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Son Thuy commune, Van Ban district, said: "With the support of all levels in terms of seeds, we have also supported affected households in terms of vegetable seeds to improve their households. Now the people have planted vegetables and are taking care of them."

"We have developed a plan for winter crop production, combined with propaganda and mobilization of people to grow short-term crops, especially corn and vegetables, to both overcome the circulation of storm No. 3 and create income for people," said Mr. Luong Van Diep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Thuy commune, Van Ban district.

With the drastic participation of the Party Committee, the government, specialized agencies and the proactive and positive spirit of the people, Son Thuy commune strives with the whole district to plant 1,400 hectares of winter crops; at the same time, focusing on care, proactively responding to complicated weather developments, striving for the winter crop production value to reach 95 million VND/ha.
