Shift in college choice trends
In addition to financial factors, changes in immigration policies and global trends in many developed countries are also creating many challenges for the study abroad journey. The US, Canada, Australia... and many familiar study abroad destinations for Vietnamese students have tightened visa regulations, causing thousands of applications to be delayed or rejected even though the candidates are qualified to study for a number of objective reasons.
Students need a safe, stable environment to realize their dream of studying abroad.
In addition to choosing the right major and destination, many parents and students today also pay more attention to factors such as cultural integration, career prospects after graduation or post-study accommodation policies. These are all important factors that need to be carefully prepared for a truly effective and sustainable study abroad journey.
In that context, the "on-site study abroad" model is becoming a strategic choice for many families and students, allowing them to access international education right in Vietnam while still ensuring safety and saving costs.
The “study abroad on-site” model is gradually becoming a strategic choice for many families.
This trend is even more evident as the 2025 high school exam has just ended, opening an important stage in students' journey to orient their future.
Equipped and provided with full career guidance information early on, excellent students tend to choose international standard universities in Vietnam, helping them develop comprehensively and making it easier to work in a borderless world .
A report by the British Business Association (BritCham), the British Embassy in Hanoi , British University Vietnam (BUV) and Decision Lab shows that 49% of parents want their children to experience international education in Vietnam. With tuition fees only 1/3 to 1/2 compared to studying abroad, students will be taught entirely in English, study in a dynamic multicultural environment, have opportunities for international exchange and personal skills development.
A great "train station" to spread your wings to the West
Not only are parents and students changing their orientation, international universities are also making a strong shift in their admission strategies. Instead of focusing on conventional admissions based on benchmark scores or traditional combinations, many schools are proactively "recruiting" excellent students through high-value scholarships by considering high school exam scores.
International universities such as British University Vietnam have launched many full and partial scholarships for students with high scores, outstanding extracurricular achievements or potential leadership skills.
150 scholarships awarded by BUV to Vietnamese high school students in 2025
After awarding 150 scholarships last month, BUV recently launched the Graduation Star scholarship for students with high high school graduation scores, opening the door to optimizing opportunities for high-quality international standard education.
A representative of BUV's Admissions Department said that the Graduation Star scholarship application criteria are based on an analysis of the high school graduation score distribution. The program's goal is to target students with good academic qualities, while avoiding creating additional pressure with requirements such as extracurricular activities or individual competency assessment tests.
In addition to a globally recognized degree from BUV, BUV students can also diversify their study abroad experience at one of nearly 70 prestigious universities in more than 15 countries on 5 continents. Students can apply for one or more short-term study abroad programs or semester exchange programs, transfer to a BUV partner university for the final year or two, or pursue graduate studies at the world's leading universities from BUV.
Typically, by effectively taking advantage of opportunities from BUV's international cooperation network, Thuy Linh and Ha Linh, two close friends studying the Marketing Management Program at BUV, successfully "hunted" for a master's scholarship at Exeter University - a top 20 university in the UK.

"Inspired by the learning environment and teaching methods at BUV, I fell in love with British education and chose this as my next destination for my Master's degree. In addition, BUV also supported us a lot with paperwork and consulting, thereby shortening the time to search and process information during the scholarship application process," said Ha Linh.
International study opportunities are all customized and individually planned for students. With the close partnerships that BUV has established with top universities in the UK and developed countries, students will enjoy a seamless, convenient transfer process, many attractive scholarships at international schools in the future from the BUV launch pad.
Thus, with a smart enough university application strategy, excellent young people can completely get an international quality degree at a good cost right in Vietnam, or have a quality start to freely "nurture" their dream of studying abroad sustainably in the future.
British University Vietnam (BUV) is a 5-star university certified by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and the university has also received global quality certification from QAA, the UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. These are two of the most prestigious accreditation bodies in the world.
BUV's curriculum is well-designed, always updated with the latest industry trends, focusing on the seamless integration of theory and practice, ensuring students have a job or continue their studies within three months of graduation.
