Vietnamese agricultural products determined to overcome barriers to affirm their position in the international market

(HTV) - In the context of increasing global strategic competition, the 20% reciprocal tax on goods imported into the US is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its adaptability, upgrade the national value chain and transform the sustainable growth model.

Businesses themselves also recognize that this is the time for Vietnam to proactively affirm its role as a responsible trade partner, ready to reform to integrate more deeply into the global value chain.

There are also concerns that the new tax policy will cause many difficulties for businesses exporting to this country. Not only will they face high taxes, but they will also have to compete fiercely with countries whose tax rates are expected to be lower than Vietnam's.

With the new US tariff order about to take effect, Vietnam is proactively ready to adapt to the new market situation.

However, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also said that in early April, businesses were prepared for all possible scenarios. In any situation, the principle of not "putting all eggs in one basket" is always determined.

Vietnam is a processing country, so we have to show them that Vietnamese products are 'Made in Vietnam'. We have to diversify the market, that is very important. Besides, I strongly agree with the Government's reforms to create all conditions for private enterprises to develop. They will be a great internal resource for the Vietnamese economy .

Many analysts believe that Vietnamese agricultural products have faced many barriers such as anti-dumping tax, equivalent standards and at that time we have overcome them all. Therefore, businesses shared that they are also ready and adapt to the new tax rate. Because in any market, if the product is of good quality, even if the price is higher, Vietnamese goods will receive the support of American consumers.

Even for cooperatives, the current trend is that we have to merge on a large scale, and have to change to have enough capacity to provide services to businesses. Businesses should also use cooperatives as a foundation to build their raw material areas.

Product quality will be the "key" for our country's enterprises to open new and promising doors in the global market.

According to the decree announced by the US government, the 20% tax rate applied to Vietnam will officially take effect from August 7, at the same time as the tax rate applied to other countries. However, goods that have been loaded on ships, are on the journey and cleared before 12:01 a.m. on October 5, 2025, will still be subject to the old tax rate.
