The Barbados-born singer has focused on her fashion and beauty businesses under the Fenty brand in recent years. In early July, Rihanna posted an image on Instagram showing that she had set a record on Spotify. The music streaming platform later confirmed the news.
The 10 songs in Rihanna's collection that have reached 1 billion streams on Spotify include Diamonds, We Found Love, Love On The Brain, Stay, This Is What You Came For, Needed Me, Four Five Seconds, Work, Umbrella and Love The Way You Lie.
The Grammy-winning singer's last music release was the single "Lift Me Up" from the soundtrack to the film "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" in October 2022. Last week, Rihanna announced that she was stepping down as CEO of fashion company Savage X Fenty. The singer will serve as executive chairman of the lingerie brand she founded in 2018, and Hillary Super will replace her as CEO.
Last month, Rihanna made Forbes' list of "Richest Self-Made Women" alongside Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Barbra Streisand.
Despite not releasing a new album since 2016, Rihanna continues to be a beloved artist in the entertainment industry through her fashion and beauty companies. Rihanna's new Spotify record also shows the important growth of streaming platforms like Spotify in the music industry, which has changed the way music is consumed and distributed, and has become an important source of income for artists.
Rihanna has made a strong mark in the entertainment industry for over a decade with many hits and many awards. However, fans are still eagerly waiting for Rihanna's new album to be released in the near future.
