Young and dynamic staff
In Son Dong district, she is an ethnic woman famous for her determination to escape poverty and become rich. In 2014, at the age of 29, she became the head of the Women's Association of Dong Tam village (Tuan Dao commune) until now. At only 40 years old, she already owns an impressive property in a difficult area of Bac Giang province.
Ms. Huong said that she is a Nung ethnic. In 2004, she started a family and lived on her own. At that time, she and her husband temporarily built a mud house to live in. Being a young couple with small children, life was difficult in every way.
"At that time, my family was considered poor. In my hometown, the land was mainly mountainous. My husband and I started our business by growing fruit trees. But the difficulty was the lack of capital to do business," Ms. Huong shared.
In 2009, the Women's Union of Tuan Dao commune introduced a preferential loan program for women from poor households in extremely difficult areas, guaranteed by the Union. Ms. Huong saw an opportunity to change her life when she could access this capital to invest in developing an economic model of fruit orchards and planting acacia and eucalyptus trees. She boldly borrowed 50 million VND with preferential interest rates from the support of the Women's Union of Tuan Dao commune. With the capital in hand, she boldly invested in a lychee garden and planted acacia forests. Gradually, she and her husband saved up some capital to do business.

At this time, Ms. Huong and her husband boldly expanded their business. She bought more trucks and excavators to serve people in transporting and leveling construction sites. Although she is a woman, she is not afraid of anything. When her husband is busy with work, she drives the excavator to do the work for him.
Being hard-working and proactive in grasping local development trends, Ms. Huong's family's economy has grown more and more. She escaped poverty and became a good businesswoman in the locality. With money, she continued to invest in buying more hilly land to grow acacia and eucalyptus. To date, she has about 7 hectares of hilly land to grow acacia and eucalyptus, which can bring in billions of dong when harvested.
Not stopping there, Ms. Huong recently entered a new economic field. She and her husband bought land near the inter-commune road, then built a restaurant. She calculated that, after deducting expenses, each year, she earned about 700 million VND.
"I used to live in poverty so I wanted to do something for ethnic minority women who are in difficult circumstances. Therefore, I have to strive to become rich to have the conditions to help them escape poverty," Ms. Huong shared.
Help many people escape poverty
Where Ms. Huong lives, there are still many poor households, so she did not hesitate to support the women to borrow capital to do business.
Ms. Tran Thi Hue, a Nung ethnic, in Dong Tam village, Tuan Dao commune, escaped poverty thanks to Ms. Huong's support. Ms. Hue said that Ms. Huong lent her 150 million VND to start a business without interest, and she would pay back later when she had money.

Every year, after deducting expenses, the orchard and the hills of acacia and eucalyptus trees help her earn about 200 million VND.
Similarly, Ms. Luc Thi Nhan in Tuan Dao commune also received capital support from Ms. Huong to do business. In 2018, Ms. Huong lent Ms. Nhan 120 million VND as capital. From that loan, Ms. Nhan invested in raising pigs, then chickens to develop the family economy and escape poverty.
