From July to October 2024, in coordination with the Red Cross, the Association of the Elderly and local authorities, through the Vietnam Talent Development Fund, Nutifood will donate thousands of cans of Varna Elite milk to lonely elderly people and those in difficult circumstances in 53 provinces and cities across the country. On this occasion, Nutifood also donated Varna Elite milk to poor elderly patients and victims of Agent Orange so that they can supplement their nutrition and improve their health to fight diseases.
Sharing about the program, Mr. Le Nguyen Hoa - Vice Chairman of Nutifood's Board of Directors - said: "Caring for community health and improving nutrition is always the mission that Nutifood pursues. We understand that not everyone has the conditions to drink quality milk, especially the elderly in difficult circumstances.
Therefore, through the Vietnamese Talent Development Fund and in coordination with the Red Cross Society, the Nutifood Elderly Association hopes to be able to share and help lonely elderly people, elderly patients, victims of Agent Orange... to have more micronutrients, increase resistance to be healthier. These gifts are also the encouragement, care, and spiritual support that Nutifood gives to help them have more joy in life."
As one of the localities receiving milk from Nutifood, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dong - Vice Chairman of the Red Cross Society of Tra Vinh province - said: "When receiving sponsorship from the company, the society was very excited because it was able to be a bridge to bring gifts with high nutritional value to the elderly, especially the lonely and disadvantaged elderly in Tra Vinh province.
This is a practical and meaningful support activity because they do not have the conditions to take care of their health and eat enough to supplement their nutrition. The Varna Elite milk donated by Nutifood contains precious medicinal herbs such as Ngoc Linh ginseng and Cordyceps, which will help improve the overall health of the elderly in difficult circumstances who do not have access to quality sources of nutrition.
Emotionally holding the milk box in her hand, Mrs. Ma Thi Be (72 years old, living in Vinh Long province) said that the program started at 2:30 p.m. but just after 1 p.m., she was ready to go even though her house was not too far away because she was "so happy because it was the first time she received milk to drink". At the age of "70 years old", every day, Mrs. Be still diligently works as a maid, cleaner, and laundry to earn less than 100,000 VND in wages. With that amount of money, she packs up to buy food and medicine for the vestibular disorder that has tormented her for many years.
“If you don’t even have enough to eat, where will you get milk to drink, especially powdered milk because it’s so expensive,” Mrs. Bé shared with a gentle smile.
Therefore, when she was given Varna Elite milk, which contains many vitamins and is rich in nutrients, Mrs. Be was very happy. She said she would save it and drink it when she was too tired, but did not dare to use it every day.
Also brought by his grandson by bicycle very early to receive milk donated by Nutifood, Mr. Nguyen Van Tu (living in Vinh Long province) said: “My son listened to his friends and was arrested and sent to prison. It was so miserable that not long after, my daughter-in-law also took her two older granddaughters and left, leaving me to raise the youngest son.
I had a stroke but I still tried to sell lottery tickets to make a living, only daring to eat dried fish and pork skin to save money for my son to go to school. There were days when the agency did not give me a pillow, so my grandfather and I went to find snails to boil and eat for a meal. Many times I wanted to die but thinking of my grandson, I struggled to live. Both grandfather and grandson were malnourished, so when I heard about the milk support, not only was I excited but my grandson also kept asking when he would get the milk?
Mr. Tu expressed his wish to receive milk regularly to be healthier and earn money to raise his grandson.
After two months of implementation, thousands of Nutifood milk packages have been distributed across the country to people in difficult circumstances. The program is still being implemented in the remaining localities from now until the end of October 2024.
Founded from the passion of doctors and nutritionists, throughout more than 20 years of development, Nutifood has always paid special attention to and actively implemented community contribution activities. Every year, the company spends more than 100 billion VND to accompany children and the poor across the country through scholarship programs; building bridges, building schools, supporting nutrition...
