Closing the year-end honey season, Mr. Giang Seo Tenh in Ban Du village, Bao Nhai commune, Bac Ha district meticulously builds new beekeeping boxes to move his family's bee colonies to low-lying areas to avoid the cold. After more than 10 years of beekeeping, from the North to the South, each sweet honey crop is both a joy and a way for his family to escape poverty. Mr. Tenh shared: "In favorable years, I earn about 250 million VND in profit, and in unfavorable years, I earn about 200 million VND. Growing corn, rice, and raising chickens only serve my family because of the low income."

Mr. Tenh checks the honey in the beehives.

A successful pioneer in beekeeping, Mr. Tenh also actively shared his experience and guided many households in the village to do the same. Up to now, 5 households have followed suit and have an income of several tens of millions to hundreds of millions of VND/year.

Mr. Giang Seo Cho, Head of Ban Du Village, Bao Nhai Commune, Bac Ha District said: "Mr. Tenh is the pioneer in beekeeping in my village, it is economically effective, we and the villagers also learn from his experience. In February and March, we collect natural longan nectar, and in April, we switch to collecting wild flower nectar."

Along with beekeeping, Mr. Giang Seo Tenh has converted 6 hectares of land used for growing corn and low-yield cassava to growing cinnamon. Cinnamon hills from 3 to 6 years old are starting to prune branches and leaves for sale. The integrated economic model has helped the family escape poverty and become a good producer.

Many households in the village came to learn and follow.

Ms. Do Thi Hoa, Vice Chairman of Bao Nhai Commune People's Committee, Bac Ha District emphasized: "From the economic efficiency of households, other households in the commune have learned and followed suit. Up to now, there are quite a number of beekeeping households. The commune wants to build wild honey into an OCOP product in the near future."

Beekeeping for honey brings high economic efficiency.

The spacious 2-storey house in the middle of Ban Du forest is a testament to the success in the efforts to escape poverty and get rich on the homeland of Mr. Giang Seo Tenh's family; creating motivation for people to boldly exploit the potential advantages available in the locality to develop the economy and sustainably reduce poverty.
