According to CBS News, speaking at the press conference concluding the NATO Summit in the Netherlands on June 25, President Trump declared that the nuclear deal with Iran is no longer really necessary.

"Maybe they'll make a deal, but to me, it's not really necessary. They fought, they had a conflict, and now they're back in their own world . I don't care if they make a deal or not because the nuclear facilities (of Iran) have been destroyed," Trump said, adding that US and Iranian officials would meet next week.

"I said 'Iran will not have a nuclear weapon'. Well, we destroyed it," the White House boss emphasized.

President Trump added that the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities was "very, very successful". "Their nuclear program has been set back basically by decades," Mr Trump said.

However, the Defense Intelligence Agency estimates that the recent US attack only set back Tehran's nuclear program "by a few months."

The Israel-Iran conflict began on June 13 when Tel Aviv launched a preemptive strike on Iran. The 12-day conflict has claimed the lives of 28 people in Israel and hundreds in Iran.

"The war between Israel and Iran lasted 12 days. We thought it was over. It was very intense, very fierce. Now both sides are happy to have reached a ceasefire. Could it break out again? It could, but I think this conflict is over," Mr. Trump emphasized.
