Over the past three decades, the US-Vietnam relationship has grown strongly, especially in areas such as economics, security, diplomacy, health, and education. The principle of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, and political institutions is the bond that binds the two countries. The US Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Marc E. Knapper, emphasized that despite many proud achievements, the relationship between the two countries needs to continue to develop more deeply, especially in the fields of high technology and innovation.
In this year's series of activities, the US Mission also emphasized the important role of the younger generation in shaping the future of bilateral relations. Specifically, in early 2025, the Mission brought 40 leaders from 21 US universities to Vietnam to promote academic cooperation. At the end of June 2025, a special youth exchange program will take place, with the participation of 14 Vietnamese high school students and 2 teachers.
US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Susan Burns shared: "Our partnership opens up many opportunities for the youth of both countries to learn and cooperate, thereby equipping the younger generation to succeed in a multicultural cooperative environment."

The 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations was also marked by the unveiling of a commemorative logo, inspired by an earlier design by artist Tran Hoai Duc. The logo combines the images of the US and Vietnamese flags in the shape of a dove in flight, symbolizing a shared commitment to peace. The mascot for the series is a combination of an eagle and a lac bird, a symbol of strength, freedom and resilience.
To expand the reach of the series, the U.S. Mission in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), is organizing a series of friendship exchanges in multiple cities. The first festival will take place on Sunday, June 22 in Da Nang, featuring music, games, and interactive booths to help the public learn about U.S. culture, STEM education, and exchange opportunities.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the U.S. Mission to Vietnam pledges to continue strengthening the strategic partnership, promoting shared interests, and contributing to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
