Ambassador Do Hung Viet presents his credentials to the United Nations Secretary-General.

On June 20, Secretary-General António Guterres congratulated Ambassador Do Hung Viet on assuming the position of Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the United Nations, believing that the Ambassador will contribute to further enhancing Vietnam's position.

On June 20, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Ambassador Do Hung Viet presented his credentials to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, officially beginning his term as Ambassador, Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United Nations.

At the reception following the presentation of credentials, Secretary-General Guterres warmly congratulated Ambassador Do Hung Viet on his new responsibilities, expressing his belief that the Ambassador will continue to contribute to further enhancing Vietnam's position and role at the United Nations.

The Secretary-General assessed that with its remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, Vietnam has truly become a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, promoting international peace and security and contributing to important processes of the United Nations.

Assessing the current complex international situation, posing unprecedented challenges to the United Nations system, Secretary-General Guterres emphasized that the rise of developing countries like Vietnam will contribute to promoting multilateralism and effectively contributing to the common effort to respond to global challenges.

On this occasion, Secretary-General António Guterres respectfully sends his regards and looks forward to meeting the Vietnamese senior leaders again this year.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, sincerely thanked Secretary-General António Guterres for his good feelings for Vietnam, expressing his wish to continue receiving valuable support and assistance from the United Nations and the Secretary-General personally for Vietnam and the Ambassador himself during his term at the United Nations.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet emphasized that relations with the United Nations have always been a high priority in Vietnam's foreign policy, affirming Vietnam's strong commitment to multilateralism and the rule of international law, and its determination to make increasingly active and substantive contributions to the common work of the United Nations.

On this occasion, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation Do Hung Viet respectfully conveyed to Secretary-General Guterres the greetings and regards of Vietnam's senior leaders, and hoped to welcome the Secretary-General back to officially visit Vietnam and attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi next October.
