Promoting good neighborly relations and traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia

On the afternoon of November 6, in Hanoi, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong came to congratulate the 72nd National Day of Cambodia (November 9, 1953 - November 9, 2025) at the Cambodian Embassy.

On behalf of Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, the Ministry's leaders and all officials and civil servants of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong sent to Ambassador Chea Kimtha and the officials and staff of the Cambodian Embassy the warmest congratulations on the important occasion of the brotherly country of Cambodia.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the past 72 years are a vivid testament to the Cambodian people's resilience, solidarity and aspiration to rise up. Under the wise leadership of generations of Cambodian leaders, especially the courageous decisions and strategic vision of Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia has overcome countless difficulties and steadily moved forward on the path of peace , stability and development.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam always believes that, promoting the precious traditions that have been forged in history and practice, under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party headed by President Hun Sen, and the Cambodian Government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet will continue to bring the country to even greater achievements in the coming time.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong also expressed his appreciation for Cambodia sending a high-level delegation led by President Hun Sen to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), as well as attending the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi. These are vivid evidences of the solidarity and closeness between the two nations.

"Vietnam always attaches importance to the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability with Cambodia, and at the same time, together with Cambodia and Laos, cultivates the solidarity relationship between the three brotherly countries, for peace, stability and development of the region," Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized.

The Deputy Minister was pleased to note that the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have been continuously consolidated and developed over the past time. The two sides have maintained regular delegation exchanges and contacts through Party, State, National Assembly, local and people-to-people channels. Trade cooperation continues to be a bright spot, while defense and security cooperation remains a solid pillar in bilateral relations.

The Deputy Minister believes that the positive results achieved at the high-level meeting between the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, the meeting of the heads of the three parties of Vietnam - Cambodia - Laos (February 2025) and high-level contacts between the leaders of the two countries will continue to be concretized, contributing to further deepening the special solidarity relationship between the two peoples.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong sincerely thanked the Ambassador and the staff of the Cambodian Embassy for their close and effective coordination in the past time, especially in serving delegation exchanges as well as promptly resolving issues arising in the relationship between the two countries.

The Deputy Minister said that from now until the end of the year, the two countries will have many important foreign affairs activities, including the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate, the 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development of Border Provinces in Phnom Penh, and the 21st Meeting of the Vietnam - Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Siem Reap.

In her reply, Ambassador Chea Kimtha expressed her emotion and sincere thanks to Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong for his good wishes, expressing the deep affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for Cambodia on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of National Day.

Ambassador Chea Kimtha emphasized: "The Cambodian people always remember Vietnam's wholehearted and righteous assistance in the struggle for national liberation, as well as in the current cause of national construction and development.

"The close and loyal solidarity between the Cambodian and Vietnamese peoples is a priceless asset, cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, and will forever be the foundation for us to work together towards a better future," Ambassador Chea Kimtha affirmed.

Ambassador Chea Kimtha highly appreciated the comprehensive cooperation achievements between the two countries in recent times, especially in the fields of politics, economics, trade, education, culture and people-to-people exchange; affirmed that the Cambodian Embassy in Vietnam will continue to promote its role as a bridge of friendship between the two governments and peoples.

At the same time, closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to further promote practical cooperation activities, especially in 2025 , a year with many important events in the relations between Vietnam and Cambodia and the three countries of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
