Allocate 5 billion VND to carry out emergency projects to handle riverbank landslides

The acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Hoang Nam, has just issued a document agreeing in principle to allocate 5 billion VND from the local budget to carry out emergency projects to deal with riverbank landslides in some localities in Trieu Phong and Hai Lang districts.

Accordingly, this funding source is intended to support the urgent repair of riverbank landslides that are truly critical, serious, urgent and at high risk of affecting people and essential infrastructure, including: Emergency anti-erosion embankment of Vinh Dinh riverbank, section through Kinh Duy village, Hai Hung commune, Hai Lang district; Emergency anti-erosion embankment of Vinh Dinh riverbank, section through Team 3, Van Hoa village, Trieu Hoa commune, Trieu Phong district.

The Department of Finance is assigned to advise the Provincial People's Committee on allocating funds to implement the above-mentioned projects, ensuring compliance with current legal regulations.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for urgently preparing and completing a report proposing investment policies and related procedures to urgently remediate the two landslide locations above, ensuring completion before the 2025 flood season.

For the remaining landslides such as the Nhung River landslide through Hai Lam Commune, Hai Lang District; the Hieu River landslide through Cam Hieu Commune, Cam Lo District and some other locations in the province, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to continue researching and finding appropriate funding sources to promptly make urgent repairs to limit damage. At the same time, continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct the People's Committees of districts and related localities to implement appropriate safety solutions before the 2025 flood season.

Assign the People's Committees of Trieu Phong and Hai Lang districts to be responsible for handing over the cleared land to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to implement the projects to ensure the progress and plan as set out. At the same time, propagate and mobilize people to create favorable conditions during the construction process in landslide areas in the assigned management area.
