On December 27, Ba Ria Hospital ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau ) said that the hospital's team of doctors had just promptly treated a student who suffered a serious injury related to firecrackers.
Previously, on December 25, Nguyen QH (12 years old, a junior high school student in Dat Do district) was hospitalized with multiple injuries and burns to his neck, chest, arms, and legs. The cause was a homemade firecracker explosion.
The patient's family said that H. had made his own firecrackers by taking match powder and putting it in a glass bottle, then lighting it to explode. Shards of glass were shot into his body, especially the wound on his neck, located next to his trachea.

After examination, the doctors ordered urgent surgery to remove the foreign object embedded in the patient's body. Because the foreign object was in many locations, the hospital coordinated treatment with many specialties such as General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Ear, Nose and Throat for surgery.
The team of doctors spent more than 4 hours in surgery, removing all 18 fragments from the body, including 1 large fragment in the neck area, 2 fragments in the chest area, 15 fragments in both arms and both legs.
After two days of surgery and treatment, Nguyen QH (12 years old, a junior high school student in Dat Do district) is now awake, in stable health, and has a normal neck.
According to doctors at Ba Ria Hospital, accidents caused by firecrackers are very dangerous and can cause disability or even death. Accidents caused by homemade firecrackers often happen to students and children. The reason is curiosity, learning from friends and social networks.
Doctors recommend that families and schoolseducate and remind children not to play with firecrackers or buy materials online to make firecrackers.
