Launching the painting contest "Vietnamese cultural heritage through painting"

This is the first time the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association has organized a painting contest about cultural heritage to contribute to preserving and promoting cultural identity and the value of national cultural heritage.

On the morning of June 2, the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association launched a Painting Contest with the theme "Vietnam's Cultural Heritage through Painting" at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts. According to the organizers, the contest is for those who love painting, encouraging young painters, art students at universities, colleges specializing in fine arts and cultural and artistic schools nationwide, and Vietnamese students studying abroad to create a playground for painters. Authors participate in the contest with paintings expressing the value of tangible and intangible cultural heritages, and scenic spots in all regions of Vietnam with a free-form style. The size (length, width) of the paintings must not be less than 60cm, painted on fabric, canvas using oil paint, lacquer, acrylic, silk painting, graphic painting... The total prize of the contest is worth 960 million VND, with 27 prizes, including: 1 Excellent prize (100 million VND); 1 First prize (75 million VND); 2 Second prizes (50 million VND each); 3 Third prizes (40 million VND each); 20 consolation prizes (10 million VND each). In addition, 73 works selected for the final round will each be paid 5 million VND in prize money and awarded a Certificate; 100 works including 27 winning works and 73 selected works for the final round will be exhibited at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum and some other cultural locations. Through the contest, the Organizing Committee wants to create opportunities for young artists to learn about and express their love for cultural heritage, express their ideas and creativity in their paintings; thereby encouraging, motivating, and creating a movement to love Vietnamese cultural heritage, preserve and honor the priceless values of national cultural heritage, and spread the love for cultural heritage among today's youth. The contest "Vietnamese Cultural Heritage through Painting" will contribute to the organizations and units of the Association to have more practical, specific and meaningful activities in the common cause of preserving and promoting the values of national cultural heritage. The painting contest "Vietnamese Cultural Heritage through Painting" is implemented from May 2023 to September 2023. After the judging period, the announcement of the awards and awarding of prizes to the authors with winning works is expected to take place on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 2023).
