3 candidates discovered using AI to solve math problems during the exam

At the press conference on the 2025 high school graduation exam held by the Ministry of Education and Training on the evening of June 27, Major General Tran Dinh Chung - Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Political Security, Ministry of Public Security - provided information on suspected exam questions and high-tech exam cheating.

Regarding the information about leaked math exam questions, Major General Tran Dinh Chung said: "Immediately after receiving the information, we took the lead in investigating and verifying."

He also said that during the exam, three cases of candidates using AI to "solve problems" during the math exam were identified.

Accordingly, these three candidates brought their phones into the exam room, took a photo of part of the exam question, and then used AI to solve the question during the exam.

Regarding the violation in Lam Dong , Mr. Chung said that this candidate used a camera attached to his sleeve and asked someone outside to help him solve the exam questions. So far, the police have identified the violation and the candidate has admitted to the violation. "We will consolidate the records and documents, based on the nature and level of the violation to handle it," he said.

Major General Tran Dinh Chung said that this year, there were few violations discovered, on a small scale, and affirmed that during the exam, no information about the exam was leaked. The fact that three candidates used AI to solve the exam questions did not leak the exam questions.

"In the future, the use of AI for cheating will continue to happen, even more sophisticatedly. Therefore, authorities also need to apply higher technology to prevent exam cheating. The most important thing is to propagate to students so that there are no violations," said Mr. Chung.
