Bac Ninh Provincial Police said they have just initiated a case, prosecuted and temporarily detained 3 subjects in a large-scale, inter-provincial counterfeit textbook production and trading ring. The authorities have seized more than 185,000 counterfeit books worth more than 8 billion VND along with many means and materials for printing and transportation, with a total estimated value of about 15 billion VND.

Initial investigation results determined that Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Director of the Northern Printing Technology Investment Company Limited, was the mastermind and organizer of the printing of a large number of fake textbooks. These books were distributed to Nguyen Thi Tuyen (owner of Hang Thang bookstore) and Ta Ngoc Long (owner of Phu Thinh bookstore). The subjects continued to sell fake books to many agents and schools in Bac Ninh province and Hanoi city.

The subjects operate in an organized manner, hiding behind the guise of legal businesses. The production area is located in a remote area with few people passing by and limited traffic. Distribution is carried out via social networks and unofficial channels at prices 20-30% cheaper than real books. Authorities continue to investigate and expand the case.
