In recent times, Kien Xuong district has implemented synchronous solutions to increase the efficiency of agricultural production, contributing to increasing product value, increasing farmers' income, affirming that agriculture plays a pivotal role in economic development.

Forming many unique products
Promoting their strengths, many localities in Kien Xuong district have built products with regional brands that bring high economic efficiency. Notably, the organic rice growing model combined with the exploitation and development of natural clam resources in Binh Thanh commune. The model was implemented in Cua Lau field, Da Coc village with a scale of over 12 hectares, aiming at the goal of circular agricultural production, enhancing the value of the collective brand of Cho Goc rice, and building the brand of Cho Goc crab sauce.
Mr. Dang Ngoc Quang, Director of Binh Thanh Rice Trading and Service Cooperative, said: The model has been implemented since June 2022, in which the Cooperative will organize the purchase of paddy, drying, milling, packaging, trading of rice products, and organize the production and trading of fish sauce products. The Cooperative has put the Hat Ngoc 9 rice variety into use along with organic fertilizers and some biological products in production, achieving a yield of 1.9 - 2 quintals of fresh paddy/sao with a purchase price 800 VND/kg higher than conventional production. Also since organic rice production, the harvested fish output in this area has increased by 5 - 7% compared to previous years. Up to now, the Cooperative has not only produced packaged products called Cho Goc rice but also continued to build the brand of Cho Goc fish sauce from natural fish resources exploited and developed in the Red River delta area of the locality, which will enrich the products of the Cho Goc location.
In addition to the products named Goc market, Kien Xuong has also successfully built a model to increase the value of rice production to serve the domestic market and export in Tay Son and Hong Tien communes with a scale of 100 hectares. The model in Tay Son not only aims to restore and develop the traditional fragrant sticky rice product of Vu Tay but also to create a unique product that is competitive in the market. The locality will promote the image of specialty sticky rice associated with the development of spiritual tourism through the Lai Tri communal house festival to enhance the value of traditional sticky rice along the Tra Ly river. In Hong Tien commune, to produce quality rice in an organic direction to increase product value and income for producers, reduce environmental pollution, and gradually restore natural aquatic resources in rice fields, the locality has built a collective brand of Hong Tien rice to fully exploit the potential and strengths of this land. The model uses ST25 rice variety, economic efficiency from rice increases by 10 - 15% compared to conventional production and has produced Hong Tien bagged rice products for sale on the market since the end of 2022.

Increase in scale, productivity and value
Not only in rice production, Kien Xuong district also has high-tech agricultural production models such as the model of growing melons in greenhouses, which is 3-4 times more effective than the traditional method of growing melons, opening up a new direction in agricultural development in localities. In livestock farming, in Kien Xuong district, there are also many aquaculture models in semi-floating ponds, which bring economic efficiency 5-14 times higher than rice cultivation. Therefore, 10 communes have registered to develop aquaculture in semi-floating ponds with an area of 460 hectares. Vu Binh commune is prominent in this field, in recent years the locality has converted 4.5 hectares from ineffective rice cultivation to fish breeding in semi-floating ponds. Thanks to that, it not only contributes to reducing the area of abandoned fields but also brings the production value to 120 - 150 million VND/ha, many times higher than rice cultivation, raising the average income per capita of the commune to 55 million VND/year, reducing the poverty rate to 2.86%.
Mr. Dinh Cong Man, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kien Xuong district, said: In recent years, agricultural production in Kien Xuong has developed in the right direction and relatively comprehensively, contributing to the increase in scale, productivity, output and value; the average growth rate in 2 years (2021 - 2022) reached 2.52%, the value of agricultural production increased from 2,906.4 billion VND in 2020 to 3,062.9 billion VND in 2023. The structure of the fields in the agricultural sector has shifted positively, gradually reducing the proportion of cultivation, gradually increasing the proportion of livestock and aquaculture. The conversion of crop structure and crop season structure has made a lot of progress; production methods have been going into depth, many production models are effective and maintained sustainably. The value of products obtained per hectare of cultivated land increases gradually over the years: in 2021 it reached 131.26 million VND/ha, in 2022 it reached 131.83 million VND/ha.
Along with that, Kien Xuong district also promotes the strength of having more than 1,200 hectares of accumulated land, accounting for over 10% of agricultural production land area and 2,367 hectares of commodity production area to promote mechanization in production and consumption of product output, creating bumper crops for people.
