With the goal of improving slaughtering and processing capacity, diversifying livestock products, ensuring food safety, disease safety, and expanding product markets, Vinh Phuc has developed a plan to implement the Project on developing the slaughtering, processing and livestock product market in the province by 2030, contributing to building a centralized slaughtering network, associated with diversifying processed products using modern technology.
The growth rate of livestock production value in the province in the period 2005 - 2010 reached 12.97%/year; in the period 2010 - 2013 reached 7.65%/year. In 2024 alone, livestock production will increase in both quantity and quality, the livestock production value will account for 61.55% of the agricultural production value and 56.7% of the total agricultural, forestry and fishery production value, contributing significantly to maintaining the overall growth rate of the sector.

In the province, there are currently many models of pig and chicken farming production linkage in a closed chain from breeding - industrial slaughter - processing - product consumption such as CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, Dabaco Vietnam Joint Stock Company, Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd.... contributing to meeting part of the people's demand for safe food consumption.
In January 2025, the total output of fresh meat for slaughter in the province reached 14,636 tons, up 14.67% over the same period. Of which, pork reached 9,568 tons, up 15.77%; poultry reached 4,455 tons, up 13.5%; poultry eggs reached 73.6 million, up 3.5%...
Phat Dat Production and Trading Company Limited, Cao Minh Commune (Phuc Yen) is known as a leading enterprise in developing a closed-chain pig farming model from breeding - industrial slaughter - processing - product consumption. With a scale of raising up to thousands of pigs, the company not only builds a scientific barn area, operating according to an automatic mechanism, but also invests in building a separate slaughter, processing and preservation area according to standards; products brought to consumption are transported by specialized cars.
The company's current slaughtering capacity reaches nearly 100 pigs/day, not only supplying its two own-brand stores in Phuc Yen city and Vinh Yen city but also supplying a number of businesses, supermarkets, and clean food stores in and outside the province.
Director of Phat Dat Production and Trading Company Limited Nguyen Van Tuan said: “The company's livestock farming activities have met VietGAP standards, and the centralized slaughterhouse has met ISO standards. In the coming time, the company will continue to open 2-3 more clean meat stores in the province and Hanoi; continue to expand cooperation with businesses and clean food businesses in and outside the province to meet the consumption needs of the people.”
In addition to the remarkable results, the State management and control of slaughter in the province still face many difficulties and problems. According to the survey results, the province currently has more than 700 small-scale livestock and poultry slaughtering households located in residential areas, and food is often consumed at rural markets, flea markets, temporary markets, etc. Of which, the number of households with business registration certificates accounts for less than 7%.
In addition, there is still a situation of poultry slaughtering at the market, common in inner-city markets such as Vinh Yen market, Phuc Yen market... which does not ensure food safety and hygiene.
It is forecasted that the demand for livestock products in the province in the coming years will continue to increase rapidly in both quantity and quality. On that basis, the province has issued a plan to build a network of concentrated animal slaughterhouses and implement a project to develop the slaughtering, processing and livestock product market in the province by 2030.
In the period of 2025 - 2026, strive to reduce 10 - 20% of small-scale slaughterhouses in residential areas that do not meet the prescribed conditions. Review, select, and plan land to build centralized slaughterhouses applying modern slaughterhouse technology and advanced equipment in the 4 districts of Tam Duong, Tam Dao, Lap Thach, and Vinh Tuong. From 2027 to 2030, strive for 80% of livestock products to be slaughtered at controlled slaughterhouses.
To achieve the above goal, authorities at all levels in the province have stepped up propaganda and mobilized slaughterhouse owners to reorganize their operations in a centralized manner, ensuring the requirements of professional agencies.
District and commune People's Committees coordinate with specialized agencies to encourage small-scale slaughterhouses to invest in upgrading, renovating, expanding production scale or building new ones to ensure veterinary hygiene and food safety.
Review and arrange land funds associated with implementing preferential policies on tax, land, capital sources... to call for and attract organizations and individuals to invest in building, upgrading, and expanding large-scale concentrated livestock and poultry slaughterhouses associated with processing and environmental protection.
Applying new and advanced technology in slaughtering, preliminary processing, safe food processing and waste treatment arising from slaughtering and food trading activities...
