Developing cooperatives in the poor district of Tu Mo Rong, Kon Tum

Implementing Program No. 41-CTr/TU dated October 7, 2022 of the Executive Committee of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee, term XVI, implementing Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022 of the Central Executive Committee of the Party, term XIII "On continuing to innovate, develop and improve the efficiency of the Collective Economy (KTTT) in the new period", the Tu Mo Rong District Party Committee and People's Committee always pay attention to, encourage and create favorable conditions for the development of KTTT.

Along with that, the District People's Committee has improved the state management apparatus for cooperatives; strengthened the state management of collective economy in all fields. At the same time, proactively coordinated with departments and branches to implement policies on training and fostering human resources, improving the qualifications of officials and members of cooperatives.

In particular, the district has coordinated to create conditions for cooperatives in the district to participate in many trade promotion programs, thereby promoting the image, expanding the market for products and goods to communities inside and outside the province, creating opportunities for trade, business cooperation, expanding the consumption market...

Up to now, the whole district has developed 33 cooperatives with 659 members operating under the Cooperative Law 2012. In addition, the district has 51 cooperative groups with 233 members participating. In particular, the district has the first new type cooperative of the province, which is Ngoc Linh H80 medicinal herbs - tourism cooperative.

Cooperatives and groups mainly operate in the agricultural and forestry sector. Cooperatives have created jobs for people in the region to develop the economy, the average income of workers in cooperatives is about 2.5 million VND/month/person.

Ms. Cu Thi Hong Nhung - Manager of An Thanh General Trading Cooperative for Growing and Processing Medicinal Herbs said: "During the formation of the Cooperative, we had the enthusiastic support and assistance of the Party Committee and local authorities. In particular, while building the raw material area and building the factory, we received the attention and facilitation of the commune authorities. From there, we were confident to continue investing and developing more products with local characteristics and creating jobs for people with stable incomes."

With Dak Vien Women's Community Cooperative (Te Xang commune) with 33 female members in the area, after its establishment, the cooperative was lent the school campus right in the village by the government as the cooperative's headquarters, at the same time, creating all conditions to help and support the cooperative's development.

Ms. Y Pot - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director of Dak Vien Women's Community Cooperative shared that thanks to the enthusiastic support of the local government, especially the support in promoting products and connecting with businesses outside the province, the products of the cooperative are not only consumed in the province but also sold to other provinces and cities such as Hanoi , Da Nang, Ha Nam...

Currently, the Cooperative is cooperating with a business in Hanoi to deeply process medicinal products to increase the value and quality of products, thereby helping to increase income for members, cooperative members and farmers.

“The products of the cooperative are exported to many provinces and cities. The income from ginseng of the female members has tripled compared to the time before joining the cooperative. I am very happy because the wish for the women to have more income has come true,” Ms. Y Pot emphasized.

Mr. Vo Trung Manh - Chairman of Tu Mo Rong District People's Committee said: Up to now, many cooperatives in the area have been operating effectively, promoting the advantages of the locality. Cooperatives have gradually consolidated, innovated and improved the quality of their operations, contributing to the socio-economic development of the district. Many cooperatives have promoted their pioneering role in hunger eradication and poverty reduction.

Some agricultural cooperatives have actually operated according to the new cooperative model, producing according to a closed product value chain, from close links between cooperatives and members and households to have stable input products to processing and linking with businesses to export cooperative products.

Newly established cooperatives generally originate from the actual needs and aspirations of workers, with more specific and clear production and business plans, meeting the actual needs of members and local people.

“The district always cares about, encourages and creates the best conditions for cooperatives and cooperative groups to develop. In particular, it encourages people to form joint ventures and associations to establish cooperative groups and cooperatives, building a value chain from production to consumption, contributing to job creation, improving and increasing income and sustainable poverty reduction for local people,” said Mr. Vo Trung Manh.
