Approval of list of 18 canals and ditches that must collect solid waste

(TN&MT) - The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a Decision approving the list, number of routes and frequency of salvage for rivers, canals and ditches with waterway traffic functions that need to salvage and collect solid waste.

Ho Chi Minh City will have 18 rivers, canals and ditches cleared of trash once a day.

This list includes 18 waterway routes that must collect and salvage solid waste, water hyacinth, and weeds with a maximum frequency of once a day, including:

At the technical planning level II: Te Canal has a length of 4,500m; Doi Canal 8,502m; Saigon River (section from Te Canal junction to Vinh Binh Canal junction) 26,200m and Ong Lon Canal 5,500m.

At the technical planning level IV: Xang An Ha Canal - Xang Ly Van Manh Canal has a length of 19,400m; Rach Tra and Rach Chiec - Trau Trau 11,100m; Dong Trong Canal - Giong Ong To Canal 5,600m.

At technical planning level V: Ben Nghe canal has a length of 3,200m; Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal 6,000m; Tau Hu - Lo Gom canal 8,900m; An Ha canal 15,100m and Thay Cai canal 26,500m.

In addition, the Vam Thuat River - Ben Cat - Truong Day - Tham Luong canal - Nuoc Len rach with a length of 32,200m will be implemented after the project to build infrastructure and improve the environment of Tham Luong canal - Ben Cat - Nuoc Len rach is completed.

Along with that, the Xom Củi - Go Noi canal has a dredged length of 7,200m, implemented after completing the dredging project of the Xom Củi canal drainage shaft.

At the technical planning level VI: Go Dua Canal VI has a length of 4,300m, Cau Menh Canal - Ben Cat Canal 10,400m and Vinh Binh River 1,800m.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned units directly managing and exploiting rivers, canals, and streams with waterway traffic functions to develop plans for garbage collection and solid waste collection every year.

The Department of Transport organizes the appraisal and approval of plans and budget estimates (including the number of routes, frequency, time, technology, and budget estimates), and contractor selection plans; at the same time, inspects and supervises the implementation of the units directly managing and exploiting the 18 waterway routes that are salvaged and have solid waste collected.
