An Italian military plane crashed during a rehearsal and hit a car below, killing a 5-year-old girl.
The accident occurred on September 16 near the airport in Turin, northern Italy. The Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team of the Italian Air Force was rehearsing for an event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the force's founding on September 17.
Nine Frecce Tricolori planes were flying in two V formations and gradually gaining altitude when one suddenly broke away from the formation and crashed. Video on social media showed the pilot ejecting while the plane created a large column of smoke and fire on the ground.

According to AGI news agency, the girl's parents were injured but not in critical condition, while her 9-year-old brother was seriously injured. The pilot's condition is currently unknown.
" The Ministry of Defense sends its condolences to the victims' families," Mr. Crosetto said, adding that measures have been taken to support those involved in the accident.
According to local media, preliminary investigation results show that the crashed plane may have hit a flock of birds, causing the engine to be disabled.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini described the crash as a “terrible tragedy” and sent his condolences and prayers to the victims. Events marking the 100th anniversary of the Italian Air Force have been cancelled.
