On October 12, the White House released Kamala Harris's medical records. In it, Dr. Joshua Simmons assessed that Harris was in good health and said that she "possesses the physical and mental stamina necessary to successfully perform the duties of the presidency." On the same day, Steven Cheung, communications director for Donald Trump's presidential campaign, responded that Harris's schedule was "much lighter" and "she does not have the same stamina as (former) President Trump." "The polls reflect this," he commented. Steven Cheung informed: "(Former) President Trump has voluntarily released updated information from his personal physician, as well as detailed reports from Dr. Ronny Jackson, who treated him after the first assassination attempt. All have concluded that he is in good health and perfect to be commander in chief." According to the communications director, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has "maintained an extremely busy and hectic campaign schedule, unlike anyone else in political history, while Kamala Harris cannot keep up with the demands of campaigning." He also said that Harris is "completely unqualified to be president of the United States."
According to Reuters, an aide to Ms. Harris revealed that she made her health records public to draw attention to Mr. Trump's refusal to do the same. Ms. Harris's campaign, 59, has wanted to emphasize Mr. Trump's age, 78, since he became the oldest candidate in the race, after President Joe Biden, 81, dropped out. According to the results of her most recent medical examination in April, Ms. Harris's health was not a concern. She has a healthy diet and does not smoke. However, Dr. Simmons noted that Ms. Harris has seasonal allergies and hives that are controlled with medication. Ms. Harris is also slightly nearsighted and wears contact lenses. In August, Mr. Trump told CBS News that he would "be happy" to release his health records. In a statement posted on www.donaldjtrump.com on October 12, Mr. Steven Cheung attached three links to medical reports, including two reports from Dr. Jackson and one report from the Republican candidate's personal physician, which confirmed that Mr. Trump's overall health is still good.
