This match determined the 7th and 8th place rankings in this year's AVC Nations Cup. Prior to this, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team suffered a bitter defeat against Indonesia.

Coach Tran Dinh Tien's team got off to a great start, winning the first two sets. But then, they lost their form and suffered an unbelievable 2-3 defeat.

At this stage of the competition, it seems the Vietnamese athletes have run out of energy. They have continuously gone through long matches, leading to many key players no longer being in their best physical condition.

Three consecutive losses against South Korea, Qatar, and Indonesia have significantly reduced the Vietnamese men's volleyball team's ranking points. A drop in their current 56th position in the world rankings is highly likely.

Therefore, against Chinese Taipei, Coach Tran Dinh Tien's team needs to set a high goal. They need to win at least two sets against this opponent. If they lose 2-3, Vietnam will only have 3.29 points deducted. In the case of a 0-3 or 1-3 loss, the points deducted will be 7.04 and 5.17 respectively.

If they win, they will receive a relatively large number of points because their opponent is ranked higher (51st).

Interestingly, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei currently hold the top three scorers in the AVC Nations Cup. Specifically, Chang Yu Sheng (104 points), Nguyen Van Quoc Duy (75 points), and Nguyen Ngoc Thuan (69 points) are the three leading scorers. Therefore, fans can expect an exciting back-and-forth battle.

In the past, Vietnam and Chinese Taipei faced each other at the AVC Challenge Cup 2023 (the predecessor of the AVC Nations Cup). At that time, despite being considered the underdog, the Southeast Asian representative surprisingly won 3-1.

In addition to the classification matches, the AVC Nations Cup 2025 will also feature semi-final matches on June 23rd to determine the teams that will advance to the final.

All matches of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 will be broadcast on https://tv.volleyballworld.com/. Match starts may be later than scheduled due to delays in previous matches.
