After Indonesia, it's Malaysia's turn for naturalized stars to be unemployed

Three days ago, the Indonesian football world was shocked by the news that a series of naturalized stars of this country were unemployed. And now, it is the turn of Malaysian players to fall into a similar situation.

Specifically, the list of Malaysian players who have not yet found a new club after the season ends includes Jon Irazabal, Matthew Davies, Endrick and Romel Morales.

All four players are naturalised Malaysians. Davies is an Australian-born defender who has played for Malaysia for the past 10 years. Endrick is from Brazil, Irazabal was born in Spain, and Morales is of Colombian descent.

However, the case of naturalized Malaysian stars is not the same as Indonesia. Most of the above names play football in the region.

Davies and Morales play for Malaysia's strongest club, Johor Darul Tazim (JDT). According to Transfermarkt, both of their contracts with JDT expire this June, but so far they have not signed new contracts. It is likely that they will look for new teams this June.

Similarly, Brazilian striker Endrick plays for Ho Chi Minh City FC in the V-League this season, but it is likely that the two sides will not continue their relationship.

Finally, there is the case of Irazabal, who played for Sabah in Azerbaijan last season. Irazabal's contract expires at the end of June, and it is almost certain that he will not be renewed by Sabah.

A few days ago, the Indonesian football world was shocked by the news that 6 naturalized players became unemployed this June. All of them are playing football in Europe.

There have been many analyses, such as the fact that these Indonesian players may face difficulties because they are classified as non-EU (in case they have to give up their European citizenship). There are also other barriers such as a busy travel schedule, not being able to spend much time with the club...

For Malaysia, these problems have not yet appeared, because most of their unemployed players this month are playing in the region. But it is not impossible that in the next year, many of Malaysia's naturalized European stars will face a similar situation.
