Director Tran Duoc introduces the dry puppet show "Mermaid's Dream"
After the success of the water puppet show "Mermaid's Dream" (script: Cao Thi Phuong Dung, director: Thu Thuy) loved by adults and children, the Southern Dragon Puppetry Troupe (HCMC Art Center) continues to launch a dry puppet version of "Mermaid's Dream" to serve the school stage.

Master Cao Thi Phuong Dung is currently working at Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema. She is a passionate author of many scripts for children, and has a profound writing style, spreading humanity andeducational meaning in each story.
And with "The Mermaid's Dream", she conveys the belief of solidarity and unity in protecting the marine environment and the lives of all species, of which the mermaid is an artistic symbol for a beautiful dream on the blue planet.

From his love for the famous animated film "The Little Mermaid" produced by Walt Disney (USA) in 1989, the author was inspired and told the story of the beautiful mermaid with a wonderful voice, Ariel, who saved the prince from a shipwreck.
And from there, the tragedy of jealousy and envy, the witch decided to take her voice, to help her become human, to be with the prince and with the good purpose of protecting the marine environment.

The play's situations attract audiences because of its unique actions, conflicts and character creation, giving the audience a message about love and understanding between humans and nature.
In the puppet version, the play "The Little Mermaid's Dream" adds humor and fun through the dialogues between the witch and the monster who serves her, and that humor makes the play even more interesting.

Director - Master Tran Duoc, deputy director of the Southern Dragon Puppetry Troupe, said that to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, this is the time for the troupe to focus on staging this dry puppet show to create a new impression with many bright and sparkling colors, exploiting many new and strange performances to attract the audience.
"In order to facilitate children's access to puppetry, the troupe hopes to create many different versions of the play, from dry puppetry, water puppetry to shadow puppetry, so that educational stories can be incorporated into it.
"Mermaid Dream" is the first work aiming to diversify the troupe's performance forms, aiming to serve the majority of audiences to the art of puppetry" - Mr. Tran Duoc said.
