"Monster" auction in Hoa Binh, a 45kg sturgeon was priced at 150 million VND

At the opening ceremony of the 2nd Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh province in 2024, an auction of "sea monsters" took place on Hoa Binh lake.

On the evening of November 19, at the Hoa Binh Provincial Exhibition Center, the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province held the opening ceremony of the 2nd Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh province in 2024.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Fish and Shrimp Festival on the side of Hoa Binh province were comrades: Nguyen Phi Long - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Bui Duc Hinh - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Bui Van Khanh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

On the Central side, there were comrade Nguyen Quoc Tri - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development ; leaders of agencies and units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development .

In his opening speech, Mr. Dinh Cong Su - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2nd Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh province in 2024, said that the Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival aims to promote the development of the aquaculture industry and products from Da River fish and shrimp; promote and affirm copyrighted brands associated with agricultural products as the ownership of two specialty brands "Da River Shrimp Hoa Binh" and "Da River Fish Hoa Binh". Thereby building the image of the Da River fish and shrimp capital to become one of the key economic sectors of Hoa Binh province.

"Through the activities of the Festival, the potential, strengths, landscapes and traditional cultural identity of Hoa Binh province in general and the Da River Lake tourist area in particular will be introduced, contributing to stimulating tourism development and attracting and expanding the domestic and foreign tourist market to Hoa Binh province," Mr. Su emphasized.

Currently, Hoa Binh Lake is the largest artificial lake in Southeast Asia, with a large water surface area, containing the potential for tourism development and aquaculture. In recent years, aquaculture has contributed a relatively high proportion to the growth of the agricultural sector, mainly cage fish farming on the Da River.

Localities in the province promote the development of cage fish farming in large water bodies, and specialty aquaculture in ponds and lakes in line with the restructuring of the fisheries sector. Maintain the area of fish farming in reservoirs at 2,695 hectares, the number of fish cages is 4,987, the output of aquaculture and exploitation in 2024 is estimated at 12,500 tons. Da River fish and shrimp products are famous throughout the provinces and cities in the country, creating a large source of income for the province and for the people and businesses farming and exploiting aquatic products on the Da River.

In particular, Hoa Binh Lake Tourist Area has been planned as one of 12 national tourist areas approved by the Prime Minister. With the advantage of Hoa Binh province having a culture rich in national identity, especially Muong culture (Hoa Binh culture of the ancient Muong people); diverse and rich culinary culture, many famous local products, many potential resort tourism destinations, eco-tourism, community tourism... Thanks to promoting its existing potential, Hoa Binh has increased people's income and created a stable and sustainable source of income for local economic development.

A 45 kg sturgeon is sold for 150 million VND.

At the opening ceremony of the Fish and Shrimp Festival, a very special event took place. That was the auction of specialty fish products from Hoa Binh Lake raised by Hai Dang Group Seafood Company Limited and Cuong Thinh Seafood and Service Company Limited in the Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Reservoir.

Accordingly, the first product is a sturgeon weighing 45 kg from Hai Dang Group Seafood Company Limited with a starting price of 20 million VND.

The second product is a 30 kg black carp of Cuong Thinh Construction and Service Company Limited with a starting price of 20 million VND.

After many exciting auctions, the 45 kg sturgeon of Hai Dang Group Seafood Company Limited was successfully auctioned to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hieu from the Fun Fishing Club of Bao Tin Minh Chau Company (Hanoi) for 150 million VND.

The 30 kg black carp of Cuong Thinh Construction and Service Company Limited was successfully auctioned to Mr. Pham Thanh Huy in Hanoi for 105 million VND.

The entire amount of money through the auction will be used by two businesses to buy fish fry to release into the Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir, to restore aquatic resources and show gratitude to the Da River.

At the second Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh Province in 2024, there will be more than 10 booths from 10 districts, cities and departments and branches displaying typical products of the province. Enterprises and cooperatives will display fish-related products.

From November 20 to November 23, the following activities will take place: Sports fishing competition on the Da River associated with promoting culture and introducing the tourist landscape of Hoa Binh Lake; Organizing fish release to regenerate aquatic resources on Hoa Binh Hydroelectric Lake; Summarizing the Sports Fishing Competition on the Da River and Closing the 2nd Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh Province in 2024.
