“Panda Bear in Africa” (English title “Panda Bear in Africa”) is an adventure animation produced by Coolbeans and Katuni Films of the Netherlands, co-produced by A.Film of Denmark, Comet Film of Germany and Le Pacte of France. The film is co-directed by Richard Claus and Karsten Kiilerich.
The film revolves around a little panda named Pang who lives in a bamboo village in East Asia. One day, Pang's best friend, the baby dragon Jielong, is suddenly kidnapped and taken to Africa. Pang takes refuge in the ship of the orangutan sailor Xing Xing to go to Africa to rescue Jielong.
On the way, Pang recruited Jojo the monkey, Niala the hyena and crossed the forest and stream to the other side of the continent, where Jielong was being held captive by the cruel plot of the lion Malume. With only kindness as a weapon, Pang "stormed" the territory of the jubilant lion king...
The film features a fresh combination of pandas, dragons and the wildlife paradise of Africa to bring a diverse and colorful adventure. From there, the film depicts an interesting friendship story between creatures from different environments, learning to communicate, accept, respect each other to become friends.
The unique point of “Panda in the Lion King’s Land” is that it successfully depicts a beautiful, majestic world where only animals, plants and nature exist. Through that, the film emphasizes the role of animals in life, where animals are the masters of their own home.
The film features young actress Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing as Pang, actress Georgina Verbaan as Jielong, and veteran Dutch actor Thom Hoffman as Xing Xing. Many roles are voiced by actors native to the character’s home country to add individuality and convey the core message of the work.
